Himachal Pradesh is not one destination — it is a dozen, and the trip you should book depends entirely on how much time you have, where you are starting from, and whether you want Mall Road and cable cars or a cold desert at 14,000 feet. This page lays out every Himachal itinerary we run, so you can find the one that fits before you call us.

Shimla and Manali — the classic circuit
If this is your first trip to Himachal, this is the one. Colonial Shimla, the drive along the Beas through Kullu, and Manali with Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel.

Dharamshala, Dalhousie and Khajjiar
Quieter than the Shimla–Manali corridor, and the better choice if you want Tibetan culture, deodar forests and meadows rather than adventure sports.

Spiti Valley — the cold desert
Spiti is a serious high-altitude journey, not a hill station break. Kaza sits above 12,000 feet and the passes are seasonal. We run it both as a summer circuit and a winter expedition, and we will tell you plainly which months are realistic for your group.

Kinnaur — the road less taken
Apple orchards, Sangla, Chitkul at the old Indo-Tibet border, and Kalpa facing Kinner Kailash. Fewer crowds than Manali, and in our view the most underrated valley in the state.

How long do you actually need?

Getting here
- By air: Chandigarh (CDG) is the practical airport for most Himachal trips. Bhuntar near Kullu and Gaggal near Dharamshala are closer but have limited flights that cancel readily in poor weather.
- By train: Chandigarh and Kalka are the usual railheads. The Kalka–Shimla toy train is a UNESCO World Heritage line and worth doing once, though it is slow.
- By road: Delhi to Shimla is roughly 7–8 hours, Delhi to Manali 12–14. We include pickup from Delhi or Chandigarh in most itineraries.

- Hotels we have inspected ourselves, on a bed-and-breakfast or half-board basis.
- Sightseeing as listed in each itinerary, plus a dedicated coordinator on WhatsApp for the duration of your trip.
Rohtang Pass permits, entry tickets, adventure activities and airfare are quoted separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Frequently asked questions
Should I book Shimla and Manali in one trip?
Only if you have five nights or more. The Shimla to Manali drive is around 250 km of mountain road and takes most of a day. Squeezing both into four nights means you spend your holiday in the car.
Will I see snow?
For snow on the ground in town, come between late December and February — Kufri and Solang are the reliable spots. Outside those months you can usually still reach snow at higher points, but nobody can promise it on a given date, and we would rather say so than sell you a guarantee.
Do I need a permit for Rohtang Pass?
Yes. Daily vehicle numbers are capped by National Green Tribunal rules and permits are issued online. We arrange this locally a few days before your visit. Rohtang is typically open from May to November. The Atal Tunnel is open year-round and needs no permit, which is why we often route through it instead.
Is Himachal suitable for elderly parents or small children?
The Shimla–Manali circuit, Dharamshala and Dalhousie are all fine — good roads, short driving days, hotels without long stair climbs. Spiti and Kinnaur are not, because of altitude and long days on rough road. Tell us who is travelling and we will steer you properly.
How far ahead should I book?
For May, June and the New Year period, six to eight weeks. Hotel availability, not vehicles, is the constraint. Off-season we can usually arrange things at short notice.
