An Amritsar tour package with Suzu Travels is honest about one thing: we are a Himachal-based operator, and Amritsar is the start, end or add-on city of our North India circuits rather than a stand-alone product. Our fixed trip that includes Amritsar is the 9-night, 10-day Himachal circuit from Chandigarh, from ₹34,500 per person, which ends with the Wagah ceremony and the Golden Temple; the Delhi version is from ₹34,799. A one- or two-day Amritsar-only trip — Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and the Attari–Wagah ceremony at 5 pm — is built as a custom plan and quoted for your dates, with our own cars doing the Wagah run and the drive into the hills. Hotels, breakfast and dinner, and the private car with fuel, tolls and driver allowance are included in the packages.

Quick answer: Amritsar at a glance
- What to see: the Golden Temple (free, open to all faiths), the langar meal, Jallianwala Bagh, the Partition Museum, Gobindgarh Fort and the Attari–Wagah ceremony.
- Wagah timing: 5:00–5:30 pm daily (winter timing since 16 October 2026); arrive by 3 pm. The border is about 30 km, 45 minutes from the city.
- Days needed: two days and two nights cover the city well.
- With the hills: Dharamshala is about 200 km (5–6 hours) and Dalhousie about 195 km, so Amritsar fits naturally at either end of a Himachal trip.
- Fixed package: Himachal with Amritsar, 9N/10D from Chandigarh, from ₹34,500 per person; Amritsar-only trips are quoted on request.
- Getting there: Swarna Shatabdi leaves New Delhi 07:20 and arrives 13:30; flights from Delhi take about 1 hour 10 minutes; by road it is about 460 km (7–8 hours).

Amritsar tour packages and prices (2026)
These are Suzu Travels’ trips that include Amritsar. Each runs in a private car that only your group uses. Package prices are per person, twin sharing, deluxe (3-star) hotels, off-season, as printed on our live pages today.
| Trip | Days | Starts from | Amritsar part | From ₹ per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Himachal with Amritsar from Chandigarh | 9N/10D | Chandigarh | Days 9–10: Wagah ceremony, Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh | ₹34,500 |
| Impressive Himachal with Amritsar from Delhi | 9N/10D | Delhi | Wagah retreat ceremony, Golden Temple and departure | ₹34,799 |
| Amritsar city break (custom) | 1N/2D or 2N/3D | Amritsar station or airport | Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Partition Museum, Wagah, Gobindgarh Fort | On request |
| Amritsar + Dharamshala Dalhousie (custom) | 5N/6D–6N/7D | Amritsar | Amritsar first, then the hills via Pathankot | On request |
Off-season rates (the ones shown) apply 1 July–30 September, 1 November–19 December and 6 January–14 March. Peak dates (15 March–30 June, all of October and 20 December–5 January) are priced 25% higher. The ₹34,799 Delhi rate is as printed on our Dalhousie packages hub today. “On request” means there is no fixed price: Amritsar-only trips depend on hotel grade and date, so we quote each one in writing before you pay anything.
Why no fixed Amritsar-only price? Amritsar city hotels and a one-day car plan vary too much for one printed rate to be honest. What is fixed is the car: our Amritsar taxi service publishes a full-day sedan (up to 250 km, enough for the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Gobindgarh Fort and the Wagah ceremony) at ₹3,000, and one-way drops to Dharamshala from ₹2,999.
How do you get to Amritsar — and onward to the hills?
Amritsar is a city of about 1.2 million in Punjab, about 450 km north-west of Delhi and 30 km from the Pakistan border. It is one of the best-connected starting points in North India.
| Route | Distance / time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi → Amritsar by train | Swarna Shatabdi 07:20 → 13:30 | Arrive in time for the Wagah ceremony the same evening |
| Delhi → Amritsar by air | About 1 h 10 min | Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee airport is about 11 km from the city |
| Delhi → Amritsar by road | About 460 km, 7–8 hours | One-way sedan from ₹5,899 on our Delhi to Amritsar taxi page |
| Amritsar → Wagah border | About 30 km, 45 minutes | Leave the city by 2:30–3 pm for the 5 pm ceremony |
| Amritsar → Dharamshala | About 200 km, 5–6 hours via Pathankot | One-way sedan from ₹2,999; details on our Amritsar to Dharamshala guide |
| Amritsar → Dalhousie | About 195 km, 5–6 hours via Pathankot | A 2-day Dalhousie–Khajjiar taxi round trip from Amritsar starts at ₹6,400 (sedan) |
The hill distances are why Amritsar works so well in a Himachal circuit: see the Golden Temple at dawn, and you are in Dharamshala or Dalhousie by evening the same day.
Sample itinerary: 2 days in Amritsar
This is how we build the Amritsar leg, whether it stands alone or starts a hill trip. It follows our things to do in Amritsar guide.
| Day | Plan | Night |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive by the morning Shatabdi or a flight. Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum (closed Mondays), lunch in the kulcha lanes of the old city, then the car to Attari for the 5 pm Wagah ceremony (arrive by 3 pm, carry ID). Golden Temple after dark, when the sanctum is lit. | Amritsar |
| Day 2 | Golden Temple at dawn for the quietest darshan, the langar meal, and Gobindgarh Fort (open 10 am–10 pm). Afternoon departure — home, or the 5–6 hour drive to Dharamshala or Dalhousie. | Amritsar or the hills |
In the 10-day Himachal with Amritsar trip, the same plan runs in reverse at the end of the circuit: Day 9 is the drive down from Dalhousie and the Wagah ceremony, Day 10 the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh before your drop at Amritsar airport or station.
Visiting the Golden Temple: the basics
Harmandir Sahib is the holiest shrine of Sikhism, free and open to all faiths, effectively round the clock — in October–January the doors open at 3 am and the evening Palki ceremony finishes at 9:45 pm. Cover your head (scarves are lent free at the entrances), deposit shoes at the free counter, dress modestly and walk clockwise around the pool. The queue for the sanctum takes 30–60 minutes at quiet times and two hours or more on weekends. The langar kitchen serves a free vegetarian meal to everyone. Timings, etiquette and the Palki schedule are in our Golden Temple visiting guide.
What is included and what is not
| Included (packages) | Not included |
|---|---|
| Hotel nights (deluxe / 3-star; upgrades on request) | Train or flight tickets to the start city |
| Daily breakfast and dinner at the hotels | Lunch, snacks and drinks |
| Private AC car with driver for all transfers, the Wagah run and sightseeing | Entry and ticket charges (Partition Museum, Gobindgarh Fort packages) |
| Fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance | Travel insurance, laundry, tips |
The Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and the Wagah ceremony itself are free. The Partition Museum charges about ₹10 for Indian visitors (₹250 for foreign visitors; closed Mondays) and Gobindgarh Fort sells ticket packages from about ₹175 to ₹360.
Best time for an Amritsar trip
| Months | What to expect |
|---|---|
| October–March | The comfortable season on the Punjab plains; cold December–January mornings suit a dawn temple visit. This is also when a combined Amritsar + Himachal snow trip works best. |
| April–June | Hot on the plains — plan the temple at dawn and Wagah in the evening, and spend the middle of the trip in the hills. |
| July–September | Monsoon: humid in the city, green in the hills; off-season package rates. |
What this means for your trip
If you want Amritsar and the mountains in one go, the 10-day Himachal with Amritsar circuit from ₹34,500 is the simplest answer: one car, one price, and the Golden Temple as the finale. If you only want Amritsar, give it two days and let us quote the hotel and car for your dates — and remember the city pairs naturally with a Dharamshala Dalhousie tour, with Dharamshala only 5–6 hours up the road. For everything else we run, see our Himachal tour packages.
Amritsar tour package: frequently asked questions
How much does an Amritsar tour package cost?
Our fixed trips that include Amritsar start at ₹34,500 per person for the 9-night, 10-day Himachal circuit from Chandigarh (₹34,799 from Delhi), twin sharing, deluxe hotels, off-season. An Amritsar-only break of one or two nights is custom-built and quoted in writing for your dates; we do not print a fixed Amritsar-only price.
How many days are enough for Amritsar?
Two days and two nights. One day covers Jallianwala Bagh, the Partition Museum and the Wagah ceremony; the second gives you the Golden Temple at dawn, the langar and Gobindgarh Fort.
What time is the Wagah border ceremony?
Since 16 October 2026 the ceremony has run 5:00–5:30 pm daily (the timing shifts with the season). The border is about 30 km from Amritsar, so leave the city by 2:30–3 pm and carry photo ID — foreign visitors need their original passport.
Is there an entry fee for the Golden Temple?
No. The Golden Temple is free and open to all faiths. Cover your head, deposit shoes at the free counter, dress modestly and walk clockwise. The free langar meal is open to everyone.
How do I reach Amritsar from Delhi?
The Swarna Shatabdi leaves New Delhi at 07:20 and arrives at 13:30, in time for Wagah the same evening. Flights take about 1 hour 10 minutes. By road it is about 460 km (7–8 hours); a one-way sedan starts at ₹5,899.
How far is Amritsar from Dharamshala and Dalhousie?
About 200 km (5–6 hours) to Dharamshala and about 195 km to Dalhousie, both via Pathankot. That is why Amritsar works as the first or last stop of a Himachal circuit: temple at dawn, hills by evening.
Do you run an Amritsar-only package with hotels?
Yes, as a custom trip: we book the hotel near the walled city, a car for Wagah and the fort, and send one written quote. The car rates are published — a full-day sedan is ₹3,000 (up to 250 km) on our Amritsar taxi page.
Can foreigners join these trips?
Yes. WhatsApp works internationally on +91 70874 88961, and our Amritsar to Dharamshala guide for international travellers covers the onward journey. Carry your passport for Wagah and keep it with you on hill drives.
