Within the hill towns, lower Dharamshala and McLeodganj are about 10 km apart by road, also linked by the Dharamshala Skyway ropeway. Stay in McLeodganj or Dharamkot for cafes, monasteries and walks; stay in lower Dharamshala if you want flatter ground and quicker access to the valley and airport.

How do I reach McLeodganj from Delhi?
By road it is about 480 km and 10–11 hours, so most guests take the overnight train to Pathankot and our car for the last 90 km (2.5–3 hours), or fly to Kangra (Gaggal) airport, about 13–15 km from Dharamshala.
Is the Dalai Lama temple open to visitors?
Yes. The Tsuglagkhang complex and Namgyal Monastery are free to enter, with a bag check at the gate, a 10-minute walk from the main square. Monks debate in the courtyard most afternoons; walk the complex clockwise.
How hard is the Triund trek?
It is about 9 km one way from McLeodganj via Gallu, climbing to a meadow at about 2,850 m — a full day up and down for a reasonably fit walker. The Forest Department charges ₹100 per person per day at Gallu, with a daily cap on numbers.
Does it snow in McLeodganj?
Some winters, usually between late December and February — the town sits at about 2,000 m, so snow reaches it less reliably than the ridges above. Triund and the Dhauladhar slopes hold snow much longer.
Can we combine McLeodganj with Dalhousie or Amritsar?
Yes — that is exactly what our fixed circuits do. Dalhousie is 4–5 hours away (the 5-day Pathankot trip covers both towns from ₹14,500), and Amritsar is about 200 km (5–6 hours) via Pathankot, so the Golden Temple fits at either end.
