What is there to do in Dalhousie?
- Khajjiar and Kalatop — the meadow 24 km away, inside the Kalatop–Khajjiar sanctuary; a Swiss diplomat nicknamed it “Mini Switzerland of India” in 1992. Horse rides, zorbing and tandem paragliding run here in season.
- Dainkund Peak — at about 2,755 m the highest point around Dalhousie, with a short walk to the Pholani Devi temple.
- The town walks — Garam Sadak and Thandi Sadak between Gandhi Chowk and Subhash Chowk, St John’s Church and the Mall.

How do I reach Dalhousie from Delhi?
The easiest way is an overnight train or Volvo bus to Pathankot, then a car for the last 85 km (2.5–3 hours). Driving all the way is about 555 km and takes 11–12 hours with stops. There is no railway or airport in Dalhousie itself; Kangra (Gaggal) airport suits trips that also include Dharamshala.
Does it snow in Dalhousie?
Yes. Snow is likeliest from late December to February, and Dainkund and the Khajjiar road get it more often than the town. Shaded stretches near Banikhet and on the Khajjiar road can ice over in the mornings, so keep a buffer day in a snow trip and travel with a driver used to winter hill roads.
Is there a toy train in Dalhousie?
No. Dalhousie has no toy train and no railway line — the nearest railheads are Pathankot Junction and Pathankot Cantt, about 85 km below. The Himachal toy train people often mean is the Kalka–Shimla line, which is in a different part of the state.
Is Khajjiar part of a Dalhousie package?
