Manali Weather in November

November is the month Manali slides from autumn into winter. The change over four weeks is bigger than in almost any other month, so the week you travel matters more than usual.

When Day Night What it feels like
1–10 November 16–19°C 4–7°C Autumn light, clear mountain views after the monsoon. Sightseeing is comfortable in a fleece and a light jacket.
Rohtang Pass is usually still open, subject to weather and permits.
11–20 November 13–17°C 2–5°C Mornings and evenings turn sharply cold. Sunny afternoons are still pleasant.
First snow spells usually reach Rohtang and the Atal Tunnel area around now.
21–30 November 10–15°C 0–3°C Proper early winter. Nights often near freezing, frost on the car in the morning.
Rohtang Pass normally shuts for the winter. Atal Tunnel stays open in normal weather.
Where these numbers come from: the monthly averages are India Meteorological Department climate data for Manali — a long-term average daily maximum of about 18.4°C and a minimum of about 1.5°C. The weekly ranges are what our own drivers and coordinators see on the ground in a normal year. Any single year can run warmer or colder, so we check the forecast again a few days before your trip.

The honest answer

Will You See Snow in Manali in November?

Manali town (2,050 m)Snow is possible late in the month, but most years the town stays dry and cold. Do not book a November trip assuming snow in town.
Solang & Atal Tunnel (2,500–3,100 m)The realistic place to find early snow, usually after the first spell in the second half of November.
Sissu & Lahaul, beyond the tunnelColder and higher, and reachable all winter through the Atal Tunnel. This is our go-to day trip when guests want snow in November.
If snow is the whole point of your trip, late December to February is the honest answer, and we will say so before you book rather than after. See our Himachal snowfall guide for winter 2026-27 for the month-by-month picture.

Open or closed

What’s Open in Manali in November

Place In November What to know
Atal Tunnel & Sissu (Lahaul) Open Open through the year in normal weather, so this is the most reliable snow-side day trip in late November. It closes only during heavy snow or landslides.
Rohtang Pass Usually closes Open in early November if there is no snow, with a permit. It normally shuts for the winter once the first heavy spell arrives, often in the second half of the month.
Solang Valley Open Ropeway, ATV rides, zorbing and paragliding run when the weather allows. Paragliding is often cancelled on windy or wet days.
Hadimba Temple, Old Manali, Mall Road Open All open all month. Some Old Manali cafés begin closing for the winter from mid-November.
Vashisht hot springs & Jogini waterfall Open A warm-water dip at Vashisht is at its best in November. The Jogini trail is short and doable in this month.
Kullu, Naggar Castle, Manikaran Open Easy half-day trips, and much quieter than in peak season.
Spiti via Kunzum La Closed Kunzum Pass closes with the first heavy snow. Winter Spiti is reached only via Shimla–Kinnaur and is a separate, longer trip.

Why November works

Four Reasons Guests Like November

The clearest views of the yearThe monsoon dust is gone and the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal peaks are visible on most mornings.
No queuesHadimba, Solang and the Atal Tunnel are calm compared with the May–June and Christmas rushes.
Low-season ratesThe same hotel usually costs less than in peak season, so you can move up a category for the same budget.

Packing

What to Pack for Manali in November

Thermal innerwear — the single most useful item for the last two weeks of the month.
Fleece + windproof jacket — layers beat one heavy coat, as afternoons can be mild.
Cap, gloves, woollen socks — mornings on the Atal Tunnel road are the coldest part of the trip.
Shoes with grip — for wet or icy patches at Solang and Sissu.
Moisturiser, lip balm, sunscreen — the air is dry and the mountain sun is strong.
Power bank and some cash — network and ATMs get patchy beyond the tunnel.

We Live Here. We Plan Around the Weather.

Suzu Travels is a Himachal-based destination management company, founded in 2019 and registered in January 2021, with our own coordinators and drivers in Kullu–Manali. In November that matters: if the Atal Tunnel closes for a day, or the pass shuts early, we move the plan around instead of leaving you waiting at a hotel.

7+ years and 5,000+ journeys later, our honest advice is still the same: come in November for the views and the quiet, and come in January if you want the snow.

FAQs

Manali in November: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the temperature in Manali in November?

Using India Meteorological Department climate data for Manali, the long-term average daily maximum in November is about 18.4°C and the average minimum about 1.5°C. In practice the first week is the mildest, with roughly 16–19°C by day, and the last week is the coldest, with days around 10–15°C and nights close to freezing. Solang, the Atal Tunnel area and Lahaul are always several degrees colder than Manali town.

Is there snowfall in Manali in November?

In Manali town, snow in November is possible but never something to count on. Snow becomes far more likely at higher points such as Rohtang, the Atal Tunnel area, Sissu and the upper reaches of Solang, usually from the second half of the month. If seeing snow is the main reason for your trip, late December to February is the reliable window, and we will tell you so honestly before you book.

Is November a good time to visit Manali?

Yes, if you want clear mountain views, few crowds and lower hotel rates. After the monsoon the air is clean and the peaks are visible on most days. It is not the right month if you want guaranteed snow or if you are travelling with very young children or elderly parents who cannot handle near-freezing nights.

Is Rohtang Pass open in November?

Usually in the first half of the month, with a permit, and usually closed in the second half once the first heavy snowfall arrives. The exact date changes every year and is decided by the administration. The Atal Tunnel stays open through the winter in normal weather, so Sissu and Lahaul remain reachable even after Rohtang closes.

Manali in November or December: which is better?

November is better for sightseeing, clear views, quieter roads and lower prices. December is better if you want snow, Christmas and New Year atmosphere, and you accept higher rates and colder conditions. We plan both, so tell us what matters more to you.

What clothes should we pack for Manali in November?

Thermal innerwear, a fleece or heavy sweater, a windproof jacket, woollen cap, gloves, warm socks and shoes with grip. Days in the sun can feel mild, so dress in layers. Carry a moisturiser and lip balm, as the air is dry, and sunglasses for the strong mountain sun.

How many days are enough for Manali in November?

Four to five days from Delhi works well: one day to travel, two days for Manali, Solang and the Atal Tunnel, one for Kullu, Naggar and Manikaran, and one to return. Add two days if you want to include Shimla or Jibhi and Tirthan Valley on the same trip.

Is the Delhi to Manali road safe in November?

Yes, in normal weather. The monsoon damage is repaired by then and the roads are usually in better shape than in July and August. Manali itself stays connected all winter. The stretches beyond the Atal Tunnel can close for a few hours during snowfall, which is why we keep an alternative plan for that day.

Are hotels cheaper in Manali in November?

Generally yes. November is a low season month between the autumn and Christmas rushes, so the same hotel often costs less than it does in May, June or late December. Rates rise again from about 20 December.

Can you plan the trip for us?

Yes. Suzu Travels is a Himachal-based DMC with our own team in Manali, so we handle the hotels, the private vehicle and the driver, and we rework the day plan if the weather changes. Send us your dates on WhatsApp and you will have a day-by-day plan and a quote within 24 hours.
