From Delhi, plan at least 5–6 days, because the drive alone is 7–8 hours each way — which is why most Delhi travellers add Manali and do the 6-day Shimla–Manali loop. Sample itinerary: 4 days in Shimla from Chandigarh
- Day 1 – Chandigarh: pickup, Rock Garden, Rose Garden and Sukhna Lake. Night in Chandigarh.
- Day 2 – Chandigarh to Shimla: drive up via Pinjore Gardens (3–4 hours). Evening on Mall Road.
- Day 3 – Kufri & Shimla sightseeing: Kufri and the Himalayan Nature Park, then Jakhu Temple, the Ridge and Christ Church.
- Day 4 – Back to Chandigarh: breakfast, drive down, drop at the airport or railway station.

Best time to take a Shimla tour
- March to June: pleasant days, peak family season — book hotels early.
- July to mid-September: monsoon; landslides can close roads. Cheaper, but keep buffer days.
- October to November: clear skies and the best mountain views; nights turn cold.

How to reach Shimla
- By road from Delhi: about 7–8 hours. Only need a cab, not a package? See Delhi to Shimla taxi.

- By train: to Kalka or Chandigarh, then the toy train or a cab uphill.
- By air: Shimla’s small Jubbarhatti airport has limited flights; most travellers fly into Chandigarh.

How many days are enough for Shimla?
Two full days in Shimla covers Mall Road, the Ridge, Jakhu, Viceregal Lodge and Kufri. Add travel days: a 4-day trip works from Chandigarh, while from Delhi most people take 5–6 days and include Manali.
Is a Shimla package from Delhi or Chandigarh better?
Chandigarh is only 3–4 hours from Shimla, so trips starting there waste less time on the road. If you live in Delhi, you can also take a train to Chandigarh and start the package there.
How much does a Shimla tour package cost?
Our 5-night Shimla–Manali trip starts at ₹12,499 per person from Chandigarh and ₹14,499 from Delhi (twin sharing, Deluxe hotels, off-season, four sharing the car). Peak dates (15 March–30 June, October, 20 December–5 January) are 25% higher. Shorter Shimla-only trips depend on dates, hotel category, group size and car type. Will there be snow in Shimla?
Snow is most likely between late December and February, but it is never guaranteed in Shimla town. If snow is a must, plan a day at Kufri or Narkanda.
