Short answer: The simplest Himachal tour package from Bangalore is a non-stop IndiGo flight to Chandigarh (about 3 hours) and a 5-night Shimla–Manali trip that starts and ends at Chandigarh airport, from ₹12,499 per person on twin sharing. Flying to Delhi gives you more flight choices but adds a 7–8 hour road day each way. Budget 7–8 days away from Bangalore for a 6-day package, and 9 days if you add Dharamshala.

How do you get from Bangalore to Himachal?
Bangalore is about 2,000 km from Shimla as the crow flies, so the trip is a flight plus a road transfer. Our packages do not include the flight; they start when you land. The question is which airport to land at.
| Route from Bangalore | Travel time | Frequency (checked 30 Oct 2026) | Then |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fly BLR → Chandigarh (IXC) | about 3 h | IndiGo non-stop daily (6E851, 15:20–18:20); check for a second rotation on your date | Shimla 3–3.5 h, Manali 7–8 h, Dharamshala 6–7 h by road |
| Fly BLR → Delhi (DEL) | 2.5–3 h | IndiGo, Air India, Akasa and others, all day | Shimla 7–8 h, Manali 12–14 h by road; or Alliance Air to Shimla |
| Fly BLR → Delhi → Kullu (KUU) or Kangra (DHM) | 6–8 h with connection | Small ATR aircraft, weather-dependent | Manali 1.5 h from Bhuntar; Dharamshala 30 min from Gaggal |
| Train 22691 Rajdhani, KSR Bengaluru → Hazrat Nizamuddin | 33.5 h (20:00 dep, 05:30 arr day 3) | Daily (Wikipedia, checked 30 Oct 2026) | Same as the Delhi option |
In our experience nine out of ten Bangalore families should fly to Chandigarh. The airport is small, the car is waiting outside, and Shimla is a comfortable evening drive. Delhi only wins if the Chandigarh fare is unreasonable, if you want to see Delhi, or if you are flying in on a date when the Chandigarh flight does not operate. Flight numbers and times change with each airline schedule, so confirm on the airline site before you book the package.
Which day does your trip really start?
The 15:20 departure from Bangalore means you land at Chandigarh at about 18:20. That shapes day one more than anything else.
| You land at | What we recommend |
|---|---|
| Chandigarh by 14:00 | Drive straight to Shimla (3–3.5 h) and start the package the same day |
| Chandigarh 18:00–19:00 (the daily IndiGo) | Either drive to Shimla for a 22:00 check-in, or sleep at Chandigarh or Zirakpur and leave at 08:00; we price both |
| Delhi before 10:00 | Drive to Shimla the same day, reaching by evening; Manali is too far for day one |
| Delhi after 12:00 | Night in Delhi or Chandigarh, hills from day two |
The return works the same way in reverse. Manali to Chandigarh airport is 7–8 hours, so on the last day we leave Manali by 07:00 for an afternoon flight, and we do not recommend booking anything that departs Chandigarh before 16:00 on the day you leave Manali. From Shimla, a 09:00 departure comfortably makes a 14:00 flight.
How many days off do you need from Bangalore?
Count the flight days as travel days, not holiday days. A 5-night, 6-day Shimla–Manali package via Chandigarh takes 7 days away from Bangalore if your return flight is in the evening, and 8 if you prefer not to combine the Manali–Chandigarh drive with a flight. Via Delhi, add one more day. The 8-night Incredible Himachal needs 10 days away.
If you only have a long weekend, Himachal from Bangalore does not work well; you will spend more time in transit than in the hills. For four nights or fewer, look at the Manali-only package from Delhi, 4N/5D from ₹14,999, and fly both ways on the early flights.
Which Himachal packages work best from Bangalore?
| Package | Starts and ends | Duration | From (per person, twin sharing, Deluxe, off-season) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shimla Manali from Chandigarh | Chandigarh | 5N/6D | ₹12,499 |
| Shimla Manali from Delhi | Delhi | 5N/6D | ₹14,999 |
| Kullu Manali Honeymoon | Chandigarh or Delhi | 4N/5D | ₹12,999 |
| Supreme Dharamshala Dalhousie from Chandigarh | Chandigarh | 5N/6D | ₹19,499 |
| Incredible Himachal from Delhi | Delhi | 8N/9D | ₹18,999 |
| Eccentric Kinnaur from Chandigarh | Chandigarh | 6N/7D | ₹24,999 |
All of these include hotel, a private car for the whole trip, breakfast and dinner, tolls and parking. Flights, lunches, entry tickets and Rohtang permit charges are extra. Peak dates, which for Himachal mean 20 December to 5 January and 15 March onwards, are about 25% higher than the off-season rates above.
What suits whom, from the Bangalore groups we have hosted:
- First trip, family with children: Shimla Manali from Chandigarh. Two nights each in Shimla and Manali plus the Kullu valley drive between them. Our 5-night Himachal itinerary walks through it day by day.
- Couples: the Kullu Manali honeymoon trip, or Shimla–Manali with an upgrade to a cottage in Old Manali or Naggar.
- Second visit, want quieter hills: Dharamshala–Dalhousie, or the Kinnaur circuit through Sangla, Chitkul and Kalpa.
- One big trip: Incredible Himachal, which strings Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie together in nine days from Delhi.
When should Bangalore travellers go to Himachal?
Bangalore’s weather is mild all year, so the question is really about Himachal’s calendar and your own holidays.
- November to mid-December: clear skies, cold nights, lowest prices, snow only at the top (Rohtang is shut, but the Atal Tunnel to Sissu is open). Our Manali in November and Shimla in December guides have the detail.
- Christmas to Sankranti: the best chance of snowfall in Manali and Shimla, highest prices, and the Kannada and Telugu school holidays fill Chandigarh flights; book 6–8 weeks ahead.
- February to mid-March: snow still on the ground above 2,500 m, off-season rates return from 6 January to 14 March.
- April to June: Karnataka’s summer vacation; Himachal is at its greenest and busiest, and Rohtang usually reopens in May. Expect peak pricing and traffic on the Manali road.
- July to September: monsoon; we steer Bangalore guests towards Spiti via Shimla or towards Kashmir in these months.
Diwali falls on 8 November 2026 and Kannada Rajyotsava on 1 November, which makes the first fortnight of November a natural window: off-season rates, dry roads, and Manali’s first snow usually arriving by the end of the month. See our Diwali holidays in Himachal note for how the hills handle that week.
What do Bangalore travellers usually get wrong?
Three things come up again and again.
Cold. Bangalore’s coldest nights are about 15 °C. Shimla in December is near zero at night and Manali below it; even in May, Rohtang and Sissu are in single figures. Pack a proper jacket, woollen socks and gloves for everyone, and rent snow boots in Manali rather than carrying them. Thermals bought in Bangalore are rarely warm enough.
Road time. The Kullu valley road from Shimla to Manali is 240–250 km and takes 7–8 hours. People used to the Bangalore–Mysore highway expect three. Build the long drive into your plan as a sightseeing day, with stops at Pandoh dam and the Beas, rather than fighting it.
Food. South Indian breakfasts are rare outside the big Manali hotels. Himachali food is wheat, rajma, rice and dal; the dhabas on the Kullu road do good parathas and chai. We can book hotels with South Indian options on request if you tell us in advance, and Manali’s Mall Road has a couple of dosa counters.
One more: altitude. Nothing on the standard Shimla–Manali circuit is above 2,100 m except day trips to Rohtang (3,980 m) and Sissu, so altitude sickness is rare. Kinnaur and Spiti are different; read our Kalpa guide before choosing those.
How does booking from Bangalore work?
You book your flights; we do the rest from the airport. A 20% token confirms a Himachal package and is fully refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of paying; after that the advance is non-refundable but the dates can be moved once within six months. The balance is due before the trip, by UPI, bank transfer or card through Razorpay. Our office is at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, two hours from Chandigarh, and our drivers come from the same valleys the packages cover.
If you prefer to work through a Bangalore travel agent, we also sell net rates to agents; our Himachal winter packages for travel agents page explains the markup structure. Either way, the itinerary, hotels and car are the same ones we run for guests from Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a direct flight from Bangalore to Himachal Pradesh?
Not to any Himachal airport. The nearest practical gateway is Chandigarh, which IndiGo serves non-stop from Bengaluru daily, departing 15:20 and arriving 18:20 on the current schedule, about 3 hours. Shimla, Kullu–Manali and Kangra airports are reached only via Delhi on small aircraft that are often cancelled in bad weather. Always confirm timings on the airline website before booking.
How much does a Himachal tour package from Bangalore cost?
Excluding flights, our 5-night, 6-day Shimla–Manali package from Chandigarh starts at ₹12,499 per person on twin sharing in Deluxe hotels during the off-season, and the same trip from Delhi at ₹14,999. Nine-day trips covering Dharamshala and Dalhousie start at ₹18,999. Peak dates from 20 December to 5 January and from 15 March are about 25% higher.
How many days are enough for Himachal from Bangalore?
Seven to eight days away from Bangalore covers a 5-night Shimla–Manali trip with the flights on either side via Chandigarh. Allow nine days via Delhi, and ten for the 8-night Incredible Himachal circuit that adds Dharamshala and Dalhousie. Anything under five days from Bangalore spends too much of the holiday in transit.
Which is better from Bangalore, Chandigarh or Delhi airport?
Chandigarh, in most cases. It is 115 km from Shimla, about 3–3.5 hours, against 340–350 km and 7–8 hours from Delhi, and the airport is quick to clear. Delhi makes sense when the Chandigarh fare is much higher, when you want a day in Delhi, or when you are joining a Delhi-start package.
Will there be snow for a Bangalore family visiting in December?
Very likely above 2,500 m, not guaranteed in town. Manali usually has its first town snowfall in late December or January, and Shimla similar. Rohtang is closed in winter, but the Atal Tunnel takes you to Sissu in Lahaul, where snow is near certain from December. Book Christmas and New Year dates early; they are peak season.
What is the best month for Bangalore travellers to visit Himachal?
For value and clear views, November and February–early March, when off-season rates apply and the roads are dry. For snow, late December to January. For the Karnataka summer holidays, April and May are pleasant in Shimla and Manali but busy and about 25% dearer. Avoid July to mid-September, when landslides disrupt the hill roads.
