A Kasauli tour package with Suzu Travels is a custom private-car break to the quiet cantonment town above Chandigarh — Christ Church, the Mall walks, Monkey Point and the Gilbert Trail — built as a 2- or 3-night weekend and quoted in writing for your dates. Kasauli is small and close (about 50–60 km from Chandigarh, 1.5–2 hours), so there is no fixed-price Kasauli package: the hotel grade decides the cost, and we price each trip on request. What is fixed is the car — a one-way sedan from Chandigarh to Kasauli starts at ₹2,499 on our published 2026 rates — and the Shimla circuits many guests attach: the 6-day Shimla Manali trip is from ₹12,499 per person from Chandigarh and ₹14,499 from Delhi, twin sharing, off-season, with hotels, breakfast and dinner, and the car included.

Kasauli tour packages and prices (2026)
We do not print a fixed Kasauli package price, because a Kasauli trip is short and the hotel — a colonial-era property, a resort or a simple deluxe room — is most of the cost. Instead we build it as a custom trip and quote it in writing. The table shows what we run, with the fixed-price Shimla circuits it combines with. Package prices are per person, twin sharing, deluxe (3-star) hotels, off-season, as printed on each package page today.
| Trip | Days | Starts from | Transport | From ₹ per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kasauli weekend (custom) | 2N/3D | Chandigarh / Kalka | Private AC sedan | On request |
| Kasauli + Shimla (custom) | 3N/4D–4N/5D | Chandigarh or Delhi | Private AC sedan / SUV | On request |
| Chandigarh Shimla Tour (Shimla + Kufri) | 3N/4D | Chandigarh | Private AC sedan | On request |
| Shimla Manali from Chandigarh | 5N/6D | Chandigarh | Private AC sedan | ₹12,499 |
| Shimla Manali from Delhi | 5N/6D | Delhi | Private AC sedan / SUV | ₹14,499 (4 sharing the car) |
Off-season rates (the ones shown) apply 1 July–30 September, 1 November–19 December and 6 January–14 March. Peak dates (15 March–30 June, all of October and 20 December–5 January) are priced 25% higher. “On request” means the page prints no price; we quote it for your dates. You get a written quote before you pay anything — we never charge first and plan later.
A Kasauli night fits naturally on the way to or from Shimla: the town sits just off NH-5 above Kalka, so Day 1 of a Shimla tour package from Delhi can end in Kasauli instead of Shimla, with no extra driving day. For every Shimla trip we run, see the Shimla tour packages hub.
How do you reach Kasauli?
| From | Distance / time | How |
|---|---|---|
| Chandigarh (city or airport) | About 50–60 km, 1.5–2 hours | Taxi via Zirakpur, Kalka and Parwanoo; one-way sedan from ₹2,499 on our Chandigarh taxi service page |
| Kalka railway station | About 23 km | The Kalka Shatabdi from Delhi reaches Kalka before noon; our car meets the train |
| Delhi | About 295–305 km | Train to Chandigarh or Kalka, then taxi; or drive via Ambala and Zirakpur |
| Shimla | About 80 km | Down NH-5 to Dharampur, then up the Kasauli road — which is how a Kasauli night joins a Shimla circuit |
The Kalka–Shimla toy train passes Dharampur and Barog near Kasauli, but note the line’s status: as of our checks the Kalka section was shut for repairs until 30 November 2026, with trains running only from Dharampur — see our toy train status page before planning a ride. Parking in the town centre is limited and parts of the cantonment restrict vehicles, so plan to park at the hotel and walk — which is the point of Kasauli anyway.
Sample itinerary: 3-day Kasauli weekend
This is how we usually build the custom trip from Chandigarh or Kalka. The sights and access rules follow our Kasauli tourist places guide.
| Day | Plan | Night |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Pickup in Chandigarh or at Kalka station; up to Kasauli by late morning (1.5–2 hours). Afternoon on the Upper and Lower Mall and at Christ Church (1853); Sunset Point in the evening. | Kasauli |
| Day 2 | Monkey Point in the morning (the Hanuman temple inside the Air Force station, about 3–4 km from the centre; usually open about 9 am–5 pm, photo ID needed, phones left at the gate), then the Gilbert Trail — a 1.5 km forest path with valley views. Free evening in the bazaar lanes. | Kasauli |
| Day 3 | Pick one on the way down: Dagshai (about 23 km) for the 1847 cantonment and its jail museum, Barog (about 27 km) for the toy-train station and pine forest, or the Timber Trail cable car at Parwanoo (about 21 km). Drop at Chandigarh or Kalka by evening. | — |
Kasauli is a walking town: two quiet loops of road through pine and oak, colonial bungalows, and long views over the plains — on clear nights you can see the lights of Chandigarh from the ridge. The Kasauli Club (founded 1880) is members-only, and the 1835 brewery and the Central Research Institute (1904) are working institutions you see from the road, not sights to enter. Sanawar, the Lawrence School campus, is about 5 km away and likewise viewed from the road. Chail, with the old Patiala palace, is a full-day trip of about 75 km — see our Chail guide.
What is included and what is not
| Included (custom Kasauli quote) | Not included |
|---|---|
| Hotel nights in the grade you pick | Train or flight tickets to Chandigarh or Kalka |
| Daily breakfast and dinner at the hotel | Lunch, snacks and drinks |
| Private AC car with driver for all transfers and sightseeing | Entry and ride tickets (Timber Trail cable car, museums) |
| Fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance | Travel insurance, laundry, tips |
This follows the same inclusion pattern as our fixed Himachal packages. The AC is switched off on hill climbs, as stated in every Himachal package policy.
Best time for a Kasauli trip
| Months | What to expect |
|---|---|
| March–June | Warm, clear days; the busiest period, especially weekends from Chandigarh and Delhi. |
| July–August | Monsoon fog and the odd landslide on the approach roads; the Gilbert Trail is slippery after rain. |
| September–November | Clear and calm — the best walking weather and the best views of the plains. |
| December–February | Cold, crisp and quiet. Snow in Kasauli is rare and light — January is the best chance — so for a snow day we drive you up to Chail, Kufri or Narkanda. |
Kasauli sits at about 1,800 m, several hundred metres lower than Shimla, so most winters bring cold, clear days rather than snow. Our Kasauli snowfall guide covers which years it snowed and where to find surer snow nearby, and the best time to visit Shimla guide covers the higher hills.
What this means for your trip
Kasauli is the easy hill weekend: close enough to Chandigarh for two nights, small enough to walk, and quiet in a way Shimla’s Mall is not. Book it as a custom 2N/3D trip — we quote the hotel and car together — and if you have more days, run it into a Shimla circuit: the 3N/4D Chandigarh Shimla trip or the 6-day Shimla Manali loop from ₹12,499. In winter, treat snow as a bonus, not a promise. For the wider menu, see our Himachal tour packages.
Kasauli tour package: frequently asked questions
How much does a Kasauli tour package cost?
We quote each Kasauli trip on request, because the hotel grade is most of the cost on a short break — there is no honest one-size price. The car is published: a one-way sedan from Chandigarh is from ₹2,499. Combined Shimla circuits are fixed-price, from ₹12,499 per person for 6 days from Chandigarh.
How many days are enough for Kasauli?
One full day covers the town — Christ Church, the Mall walks, Monkey Point, the Gilbert Trail and Sunset Point. A second day adds Dagshai, Barog or the Timber Trail cable car. Two nights is the natural weekend length.
How do I reach Kasauli from Delhi?
Take the Kalka Shatabdi to Kalka (about 23 km below Kasauli) or a train to Chandigarh (about 50–60 km away), then our car. Driving all the way is about 295–305 km via Ambala and Zirakpur.
What are the rules for Monkey Point?
Monkey Point is inside an Indian Air Force station, so carry photo ID for every adult; phones, cameras and food have not been allowed inside, and the gate (usually about 9 am–5 pm) can shut without notice. If it is closed, Sunset Point and the Gilbert Trail give similar views.
Does it snow in Kasauli?
Rarely, and lightly. At about 1,800 m the town gets snow only in some winters, usually between late December and mid-February, with January the best chance. For sure snow, base in Kasauli and drive up to Chail, Kufri or Narkanda on the forecast day.
Can we combine Kasauli with Shimla?
Yes — Shimla is about 80 km up NH-5, so a Kasauli night fits at the start or end of any Shimla trip with no extra driving day. We quote the combined plan as one trip with one car.
Is the toy train running near Kasauli?
Partly. The Kalka–Shimla line passes Dharampur (about 12 km) and Barog (about 27 km), but the Kalka section was shut for repairs until 30 November 2026 at our last check, with one train each way from Dharampur. Check our toy train status page before you plan a ride.
Is Kasauli good for a couple’s weekend?
Yes — it is one of the quietest hill weekends near Chandigarh: short drive, walking town, colonial lanes and long plains views, with none of the taxi-and-crowd churn of the bigger hill stations. That quiet is also why we match the hotel to you rather than sell a fixed package.
