The Complete Day-by-Day Himachal Tour Package Itinerary
A well-structured itinerary is the backbone of any successful trip. We have paced this Himachal Tour Package to ensure you experience maximum sightseeing without suffering from travel fatigue.
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi/Chandigarh and the Ascent to Shimla
Your journey begins the moment you touch down at the airport or arrive at the railway station in Delhi or Chandigarh. A courteous representative from Suzu Travels will be waiting to greet you. From here, you will board your private, comfortable vehicle, and the ascent into the mountains begins.
The drive to Shimla is nothing short of spectacular. As you leave the bustling plains behind, the air grows noticeably cooler and fresher. You will cruise along the Himalayan Expressway, passing through the beautiful timber trails of Parwanoo and the "Mushroom City" of Solan. The winding roads are flanked by dense forests of pine and oak, offering your first taste of the region's natural grandeur.
Upon reaching Shimla (situated at an altitude of 2,276 meters), you will check into your premium, pre-booked hotel. Take some time to acclimatize to the altitude and relax. In the evening, step out for a leisurely walk along the famous Mall Road. This pedestrian-only avenue is the heart of Shimla's social life, lined with charming cafes, boutique shops, and colonial-era architecture. Enjoy a hearty welcome dinner at your hotel and rest up for the adventures ahead.
Day 2: Winter Wonderland in Kufri & Shimla Heritage Sightseeing
Wake up to a glorious sunrise illuminating the Shivalik range. After a delicious, warm breakfast, your Himachal Tour Package takes you on a short, scenic drive to Kufri, located just 15 kilometers from Shimla. Situated at an even higher altitude (2,720 meters), Kufri is renowned for its panoramic views, dense cedar forests, and thrilling activities.
In Kufri, you can visit the Himalayan Nature Park to spot indigenous high-altitude wildlife like the Himalayan Monal (the state bird), snow leopards, and brown bears. Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy horseback riding, yak rides, or simply revel in the snow during the winter months. The trek to Mahasu Peak, Kufri's highest point, offers breathtaking views of the Badrinath and Kedarnath ranges.
In the afternoon, return to Shimla for a deep dive into its rich colonial history. Visit the magnificent Viceregal Lodge, also known as the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. This imposing Scottish-baronial-style building was the summer residence of the Indian Viceroy during the British Raj. Next, stroll over to The Ridge, a large open space offering spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks. Here, you will find the iconic neo-gothic Christ Church, one of the oldest churches in North India, famous for its exquisite stained-glass windows.
Complete your evening with a visit to the Jakhu Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Accessible via a scenic trek, a pony ride, or the Jakhu Ropeway, the temple boasts a colossal 108-foot statue of the deity that watches over the town. Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: The Majestic Drive from Shimla to Manali via Kullu Valley
Day 3 of your Himachal Tour Package features one of the most stunning road trips in all of India. After an early breakfast, check out of your Shimla hotel. Today, we cover approximately 250 kilometers, traveling from the colonial elegance of Shimla to the rustic, mythological allure of Manali.
This journey is a visual feast. The landscape dramatically shifts as we drive alongside the roaring, emerald waters of the Beas River. We will make strategic stops for photography and relaxation. One major highlight is the Pandoh Dam, a massive hydroelectric project set against a backdrop of steep, green mountains. The tranquil waters of Sundernagar Lake provide another perfect photo opportunity.
As you enter the Kullu Valley—often referred to as the "Valley of Gods"—the towering peaks of the Pir Panjal range come into view. Kullu is world-famous for its traditional handwoven shawls and stoles. We will stop at an authentic Kullu shawl factory where you can witness local artisans at work and purchase genuine Pashminas directly from the source. For thrill-seekers, we can also arrange an exhilarating session of white-water river rafting in the icy currents of the Beas River.
By early evening, you will arrive in the bustling, vibrant town of Manali. Check into your beautiful riverside or mountain-view resort. Enjoy a lavish dinner and prepare for the second half of your Himalayan expedition.
Day 4: Discovering the Soul of Manali – Local Sightseeing
Manali is a unique destination where ancient mythology seamlessly blends with a vibrant, modern backpacker culture. After a hearty breakfast, your dedicated vehicle will take you on a comprehensive local sightseeing tour, a core component of this Himachal Tour Package.
Your first stop is the deeply revered Hadimba Devi Temple. Built in 1553, this wooden architectural marvel features a four-tiered pagoda-style roof and intricately carved doorways. Dedicated to Goddess Hadimba, the wife of Bhima from the epic Mahabharata, the temple is surrounded by the enchanting Dhungri Van Vihar, a dense, mystical cedar forest.
Next, we head to Old Manali to visit the Manu Temple. According to Hindu mythology, Manali is named after the sage Manu, the creator of human life, who is believed to have stepped off his ark in Manali after the great flood. The temple offers a peaceful retreat and spectacular views of the valley.
From there, proceed to the quaint village of Vashisht, famous for its ancient stone temples and natural hot water springs. The sulfur-rich waters are naturally heated by geothermal energy and are believed to possess incredible healing and therapeutic properties. Taking a dip here is the perfect remedy for tired muscles.
Spend your evening exploring the Tibetan Monasteries, which add a profound sense of peace and spirituality to the town. Later, wander through the lively Manali Mall Road, shopping for silver jewelry, dreamcatchers, and local handicrafts, or relax in one of the many bohemian cafes in Old Manali.
Day 5: Adrenaline and Altitude at Solang Valley & Rohtang Pass
This day is often the absolute favorite for travelers booking our Himachal Tour Package. Today is dedicated to high-altitude thrills and pristine, snow-white landscapes. After breakfast, we drive to the breathtaking Solang Valley, located just 14 kilometers from Manali.
Solang Valley is the undisputed adventure capital of Himachal Pradesh. During the summer, its lush green meadows are perfect for zorbing, horseback riding, and ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) rides. The highlight, however, is tandem paragliding. Soaring high above the valley floor offers an unmatched, bird's-eye view of the surrounding glaciers and peaks. During the winter months, Solang transforms into a premier destination for skiing and snowboarding.
Optional Excursion: Rohtang Pass or Atal Tunnel
Subject to weather conditions, National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines, and permit availability, we can arrange an excursion to the mighty Rohtang Pass (elevation 3,978 meters). Rohtang offers visitors the chance to experience heavy snow even in the summer months. Alternatively, we highly recommend a drive through the spectacular Atal Tunnel. At 9.02 kilometers long, it is the longest highway single-tube tunnel above 10,000 feet in the world. Emerging from the tunnel into the stark, barren, and jaw-droppingly beautiful Lahaul Valley near Sissu is an experience of a lifetime.
Return to your resort in Manali for your final night in the mountains. Celebrate the completion of your incredible journey with a grand farewell dinner.
Day 6: Bidding Farewell to the Himalayas
All good things must come to an end. Enjoy your final mountain breakfast, breathing in the crisp, pine-scented air one last time. Pack your bags, loaded with souvenirs and unforgettable memories. Check out of your hotel as our driver prepares to escort you back down to the plains.
The journey back to Delhi or Chandigarh allows you time to reflect on the majestic sights, the thrilling adventures, and the peaceful moments you've experienced over the past week. Our driver will drop you off at the airport or railway station for your onward journey back home, marking the successful conclusion of your Himachal Tour Package with Suzu Travels.
Deep Dive: Exploring the Key Entities of Your Trip
To truly appreciate the value of this Himachal Tour Package, it is vital to understand the cultural and geographical significance of the destinations you will be visiting.
The Colonial Grandeur of Shimla
Before the British arrived, the area that is now Shimla was covered in dense forests. Once "discovered" by British officers seeking refuge from the sweltering heat of the Indian plains, it rapidly developed into the summer capital of British India. This history is permanently etched into the city's architecture. Structures like the Gaiety Theatre, the Town Hall, and the Viceregal Lodge feature classic Tudor, neo-Gothic, and Scottish-baronial designs. When you walk the streets of Shimla, you are walking through a living museum of colonial history.
The Spiritual Epicenter of Kullu
Kullu is not just a transit point; it is the spiritual heart of Himachal. Nestled between the Pir Panjal, Lower Himalayan, and Great Himalayan Ranges, the valley is steeped in legends. It is famous globally for the grand Kullu Dussehra festival, celebrated in the autumn. During this week-long festival, hundreds of local deities are brought down from the surrounding mountain villages to the central Dhalpur Maidan in a spectacular, colorful procession. Even if you miss the festival, the valley's sprawling apple orchards and traditional wooden architecture are captivating.
The Dual Personality of Manali
Manali sits near the northern end of the Kullu Valley at an altitude of 2,050 meters. It serves as the gateway to the remote and rugged terrains of Lahaul, Spiti, and Leh. Manali has a fascinating dual personality. New Manali is a bustling commercial hub, packed with family-friendly hotels, bustling markets, and excellent restaurants. Cross the Manalsu River bridge into Old Manali, and the vibe changes entirely. Here, you find tranquil apple orchards, bohemian backpacker cafes serving global cuisine, and a laid-back atmosphere heavily influenced by the 1960s hippie trail.

Spacious family suites or interconnected rooms.

Hotels with easy accessibility, minimizing the need to climb steep stairs.
Kid-friendly meals and activities, ensuring the younger ones are thoroughly entertained.
For Adventure Seekers: Pushing the Limits
If you are booking this Himachal Tour Package for the adrenaline rush, we can pack your itinerary with action:
Certified, safe tandem paragliding in Solang Valley.
High-grade white-water river rafting in the Beas River (Kullu).
Guided day-treks to stunning locations like the Jogini Waterfalls or Bhrigu Lake.
Mountain biking, rock climbing, and rappelling experiences.
Culinary Journey: Must-Try Foods in Himachal Pradesh
A destination is best understood through its food. When you book a Himachal Tour Package, you must step out of your hotel and try the local Kumaoni and Himachali cuisine. The food here is heavily influenced by the harsh winters, relying on yogurt, lentils, and slow cooking methods.
Himachali Dham: This is an absolute must-try. Dham is a traditional festive vegetarian feast prepared by specialized Brahmin chefs called 'Botis'. It is cooked in thick copper vessels over firewood and usually includes rice, Chana Madra (chickpeas cooked in a rich yogurt gravy), varied lentils, and a sweet dish like Mittha (sweetened rice with dry fruits).
Siddu: The ultimate mountain comfort food. Siddu is a local steamed bread made from wheat flour, fermented with yeast. It is typically stuffed with a savory paste made from ground walnuts, poppy seeds, or green peas, and served dripping with homemade desi ghee.
Babru: Think of it as the Himachali cousin of the famous North Indian Kachori. It is made by stuffing soaked and ground black gram dal into wheat dough, which is then deep-fried until crisp. It is perfectly paired with hot tea.
Trout Fish: Due to the pristine, cold rivers, Kullu and Manali are famous for Rainbow and Brown Trout. Head to a riverside cafe in Old Manali to enjoy a beautifully pan-seared or grilled garlic-butter trout.
Tudkiya Bhath: A spicy, authentic Himachali pulao cooked with rice, lentils, potatoes, yogurt, and aromatic mountain spices. It provides intense warmth on a cold winter night.

Promoting Responsible and Sustainable Tourism
At Suzu Travels, we are committed to preserving the fragile ecosystem of the Himalayas. When you book a Himachal Tour Package with us, we request you to follow these responsible tourism guidelines:
Say No to Plastics: Himachal Pradesh has a strict ban on single-use plastics. Carry a reusable, insulated water bottle and cloth bags for shopping.
Respect Local Customs: The people of Himachal are deeply religious. Always dress modestly when visiting temples and monasteries. Ensure you remove your shoes and, in some cases, cover your head before entering religious premises.
Do Not Litter: Keep the mountains clean. Dispose of your trash only in designated bins. If you are trekking, carry your wrappers back with you.
Support the Local Economy: Buy souvenirs, shawls, and handicrafts directly from local artisans, weavers, and government-approved emporiums rather than large commercial chains. Learn more about Indian crafts at Incredible India.
Top 15 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Your Himachal Tour Package
Planning a trip to the Himalayas naturally brings up a lot of questions. We have compiled and answered the most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your Himachal Tour Package.
1. How many days are ideal for a Shimla and Manali tour?
A minimum of 5 nights and 6 days is highly recommended for a complete Himachal Tour Package covering Shimla and Manali. This allows you to spend 2 nights in Shimla and 3 nights in Manali, factoring in the full day required to drive between the two destinations without feeling rushed.
2. Is it safe to travel to Himachal Pradesh?
Yes, Himachal Pradesh is considered one of the safest tourist destinations in India. The crime rate is exceptionally low, and the locals are known for their hospitality and helpfulness. It is completely safe for families, solo female travelers, and elderly tourists. We continuously monitor road conditions to ensure your safety during transit.
3. How do we obtain a permit for Rohtang Pass?
The NGT has restricted the number of vehicles allowed to visit Rohtang Pass daily to protect its fragile ecology. Permits are issued online by the local government. Our ground team or your hotel can assist you in applying for this permit locally a few days before your planned visit. Please note, permit fees are not included in the base package cost.
4. Will I experience snowfall during my trip?
If your goal is to see live snowfall, the best time to book your Himachal Tour Package is between late December and February. During these months, Kufri, Manali, and Solang Valley frequently receive heavy snow. If you travel in the summer, you can still find snow at high-altitude points like Rohtang Pass.
5. Can I customize this package to include other destinations?
Absolutely! Suzu Travels specializes in bespoke itineraries. We can easily extend your Himachal Tour Package to include other stunning locations such as Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kasol, or the Spiti Valley, based on your available time and budget.

7. Are room heaters provided in the hotels?
Yes, during the winter season (November to March), all premium 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotels included in our Himachal Tour Package provide room heaters. Luxury resorts often have centralized heating, while other properties provide oil or halogen heaters in the rooms.
8. Is the mountain drive from Shimla to Manali safe for children?
Yes, the highway connecting Shimla, Kullu, and Manali is a well-paved, wide National Highway. Our drivers are seasoned professionals with years of experience driving on mountain terrains. However, the winding roads can cause motion sickness, so we recommend giving children anti-nausea medication 30 minutes before the drive.
9. Are ATMs widely available in Shimla and Manali?
Yes, major towns like Shimla, Kullu, and Manali have numerous ATMs from banks like SBI, HDFC, and ICICI. Digital payments (UPI/Google Pay) are widely accepted everywhere. However, it is strongly advised to carry sufficient cash when visiting remote areas like Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass, where internet connectivity can be unreliable.
10. Does this package include airfare or train tickets?
The standard Himachal Tour Package is a land-only package starting from Delhi or Chandigarh. It does not include flights or train tickets from your home city. However, our travel consultants can assist you in booking your flights or trains as an add-on service.
11. What is the difference between visiting Rohtang Pass and the Atal Tunnel?
Rohtang Pass is a historic, high-altitude mountain pass known for its panoramic views and snow points. It is usually open from May to November and requires a special permit.
