A Tirthan Valley tour package is a 3 to 6-day trip to the quietest corner of Kullu district: riverside stays at Gushaini or Sai Ropa, trout country on the Tirthan river, walks into the ecozone of the Great Himalayan National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014), and the drive up to Jalori Pass for the Serolsar Lake walk, with Jibhi and Shoja on the same road. Suzu Travels does not sell a fixed Tirthan package: we build Tirthan trips to your dates with a private car and riverside stays, quoted on request. Our nearest fixed packages start from ₹12,499 per person (Shimla Manali from Chandigarh, 5 nights, twin sharing, off-season), and Tirthan nights can be added to any of them.

Tirthan Valley tour packages and prices (2026)
The first three rows are the Tirthan plans we build to order — stays in Tirthan are homestays, guesthouses and camps rather than big hotels, so we price them per trip. The rest are real Suzu packages with the prices printed on their pages today (per person, twin sharing, off-season); Tirthan nights can be added to them and re-quoted.
| Package | Days | Starts from | Transport | From ₹ per person |

“From” prices are the sample rates printed on each live package page on 7 November 2026: per person, twin sharing, off-season. Peak dates (15 March–30 June, October and 20 December–5 January) are priced 25% higher on the fixed packages. “On request” means we price the trip for your dates and group. You get a written quote before you pay anything. Jibhi sits on the same Banjar road, so our Jibhi tour package page covers the cottage-side version of this trip — most people combine the two valleys.
How you reach Tirthan Valley
Tirthan branches off the Delhi–Manali highway at Aut: turn off just before the Aut tunnel for Larji, then follow the Tirthan river past Sai Ropa to Gushaini. There is no rail or air link into the valley itself.
| From | Distance and time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi | About 500 km, 10–12 hours | Leave by 5 am, or take the overnight HRTC bus to Aut and our car from there |
| Chandigarh | About 265 km, 7–8 hours | Train or flight to Chandigarh, then our car via Bilaspur and Mandi |
| Bhuntar airport (Kullu) | About 55 km | The nearest airport; limited flights |
| Manali | About 100 km via Aut and Kullu | Easy to bolt Tirthan onto a Manali trip |
| Jibhi | About 25 km from Gushaini | Same Banjar valley; the two combine naturally |
When Jalori Pass is open (roughly April to mid-December), the Shimla–Narkanda–Ani road over the pass makes a loop possible: Shimla in, Jalori and Jibhi in the middle, out via Aut to Manali or back to Chandigarh. Our Jalori Pass guide tracks the road status.
Sample itinerary: 4 days in Tirthan and Jibhi
This follows our Jibhi and Tirthan Valley itinerary, with a private car throughout and the river at the centre.
| Day | Plan | Night |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Drive from Delhi (by 5 am) or Chandigarh (by 8 am) via Bilaspur and Mandi to Aut; turn off before the tunnel for Larji and the Tirthan road. Evening by the river at Gushaini or Sai Ropa. | Tirthan riverside stay |
| Day 2 | Great Himalayan National Park day: walk to Chhoie waterfall (about 1 hour up from Nagini, no permit needed), or take the Sai Ropa permit and a registered guide for the Rolla trail. Trout lunch at a riverside kitchen in season. | Tirthan riverside stay |
| Day 3 | To Jibhi (about 25 km), then 12 km up to Jalori Pass: the 5 km forest walk to Serolsar Lake, or the steeper 3 km to Raghupur Fort. Sunset at Shoja on the way down; Jibhi waterfall in the evening. | Jibhi cottage |
| Day 4 | The walk up to Chehni Kothi, a tall stone-and-wood tower above Banjar (45–60 minutes uphill), then the drive back to Chandigarh or Delhi. | — |
In winter, when Jalori is shut, day 3 becomes a Shoja snow stop instead of the pass, and the trip runs entirely via Mandi and Aut. Add two nights and a registered guide for the Rolla–Shilt trek inside the park; multi-day park routes need the permit, guide and porters arranged in advance, which we handle with the Sai Ropa range office.
What is included and what is not
| Included in a Suzu Tirthan plan | Not included |
|---|---|
| Riverside homestay, guesthouse, cottage or camp nights, twin sharing | Lunch on all days |
| Breakfast and dinner where the stay serves them | National park permits, trek guides and porters, unless added to the quote |
| Private car with fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance | Trout-fishing licence and activity fees |
| Pickup and drop at your start city | Flights or trains to the start city |
| Day plan for Jalori, Serolsar, Chehni Kothi and the Tirthan river | Personal expenses and tips |
Stays in Tirthan run from simple homestays to riverside camps — roughly ₹1,000–4,000 a night in 2026 — and we name the property in your quote. Expect few ATMs, patchy mobile signal and early dinners; that is the point of the valley. Our Tirthan Valley travel guide covers the park rules, treks and trout in full detail, and the Jibhi guide covers the cottage side of the Banjar valley.
Best time for a Tirthan Valley trip
| Months | What to expect |
|---|---|
| March–June | Pleasant days; Jalori usually reopens between March and April; trout season open; park treks at their best from May. |
| July–August | Monsoon: the valley is green but the Aut–Banjar road and the pass are slide-prone. Keep plans flexible. |
| September–mid-December | Clear views, quiet roads, autumn colour — October and November are our pick. Trout fishing closes 1 November. |
| Late December–February | Snow at Shoja and Jalori; the pass road usually closes after the first heavy snow. Riverside stays stay reachable but cold — ask for heating. |
Trout note: angling on the Tirthan needs a licence from the HP Fisheries Department, and the closed season runs from 1 November to the end of February every year — eating trout at the riverside kitchens is unaffected. Park note: you need no permit to stay in Gushaini or walk to Chhoie waterfall; crossing into the GHNP core zone (a few kilometres above Gushaini on the Rolla route) needs a permit from the Sai Ropa range office and, for overnight routes, a registered guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cost of a Tirthan Valley tour package?
Suzu Travels builds Tirthan trips to your dates and quotes them on request, because the price depends on the start city, the number of people sharing the car and the kind of stay (homestay, cottage or camp). Our nearest fixed package, Shimla Manali from Chandigarh, starts at ₹12,499 per person for 5 nights, and Tirthan nights can be added to it.
How many days are enough for Tirthan Valley?
Three nights cover it well: two by the river for Chhoie waterfall and a park trail, and one in Jibhi for Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake. Add nights for the Rolla–Shilt trek or to continue to Manali or Shimla.
Where is Tirthan Valley, and how do we reach it?
In Banjar tehsil of Kullu district, at 1,500–1,700 m. Turn off the Delhi–Manali highway at Aut, just before the tunnel; Gushaini, the road-head, is about 34 km from Aut. It is about 500 km (10–12 hours) from Delhi, 265 km (7–8 hours) from Chandigarh and 100 km from Manali; the nearest airport is Bhuntar, about 55 km away.
Do we need a permit for the Great Himalayan National Park?
Not for the ecozone, where the villages, stays and the Chhoie waterfall walk are. You need a permit from the Sai Ropa range office to cross into the core zone, and overnight park routes need a registered guide; we arrange both when we book your trip.
Can we fish for trout in Tirthan?
Yes, with an angling licence from the HP Fisheries Department — but not between 1 November and the end of February, when the season is closed. We tell you the current licence arrangement when we quote your dates.
Is Jalori Pass open in winter?
Usually not. The pass (about 3,120 m) typically closes after the first heavy snow in late December and reopens between March and April. In winter we route via Mandi and Aut and make Shoja the snow stop instead.
Tirthan or Jibhi — which should we stay in?
Tirthan (Gushaini or Sai Ropa) for the river, trout and park trails; Jibhi for wooden cottages, cafes and the Jalori day trip. They are about 25 km apart, so most 3–4 night trips sleep in both — our Jibhi tour package page covers the Jibhi-first version.
Is Tirthan good for families?
Yes, for families who like walks and rivers rather than markets: the Chhoie waterfall walk suits children, and homestays cook simple food. Expect patchy signal and few ATMs, and keep an eye on children near the river.
Book your Tirthan Valley trip
Send your dates, start city and group size, and whether you want trout, treks or just the river. We check the Jalori road and what is open, and reply with a day-by-day plan and one all-in price; nothing is charged until you approve it.
