How do you get from Mumbai to Kashmir?
Mumbai is one of the few Indian cities with a non-stop flight to Srinagar, so flying is the easy choice. The train makes sense if you want to add Vaishno Devi at Katra or travel slowly; the last leg into the Valley is then the Vande Bharat or a 6–8 hour drive from Jammu.
| Route | Travel time | Then | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-stop flight Mumbai → Srinagar | About 2 h 50 min | Pick-up at Srinagar airport | Most families and couples |
| One-stop flight via Delhi or Jammu | About 3 h 50 min – 7 h | Pick-up at Srinagar airport | When the non-stop is full or dearer |
| Swaraj Express to Katra + Vande Bharat | About 31 h to Katra, then 3 h | Vaishno Devi first, then Srinagar | Pilgrims, rail lovers, longer holidays |
| Train to Jammu Tawi + road | 27.5–35.5 h | 250 km, 6–8 h by cab | When Vande Bharat seats are gone |
Is there a direct flight from Mumbai to Srinagar?
Yes. SlickTrip’s route data shows Akasa Air and IndiGo as non-stop carriers on Mumbai–Srinagar, with Air India, Air India Express and SpiceJet selling one-stop connections. On Friday 20 November 2026 the schedule looked like this:
| Flight (example day: Fri 20 Nov 2026) | Departs → Arrives | Journey |
|---|---|---|
| Akasa Air QP1121, non-stop | 06:00 → 08:50 | 2 h 50 min |
| IndiGo 6E603, one stop at Jammu (same flight) | 08:35 → 12:25 | 3 h 50 min |
| IndiGo 6E5067, one stop at Noida International (same flight) | 06:35 → 11:15 | 4 h 40 min |
| IndiGo via Delhi (6E6045 + 6E877) | 02:50 → 08:10 | 5 h 20 min |
| Air India via Delhi (AI2452 + AI1709) | 03:05 → 09:10 | 6 h 05 min |
A schedule for one day, not a timetable; check the airline for your date. In December 2026 the typical one-way fare was US$106–115 (about ₹10,100–₹10,900), with the cheapest day at US$105 and the dearest at US$123 around Christmas. The early non-stop lands before 9 am, so day 1 can include a shikara ride and the Mughal gardens.

When should travellers from Mumbai go to Kashmir?
Maharashtra schools broke for summer from 2 May to 15 June 2026, so May and early June are the busiest weeks for Mumbai families; book flights and houseboats six to eight weeks ahead. April–June brings green meadows and snow up at Apharwat. Late December to February is the snow season, with Gulmarg the surest bet; see Kashmir snowfall. Late March–early April is tulip time (Tulip Garden dates), and September–November brings clear skies, autumn chinars and lower prices. For this month, read Kashmir in November.
Tips for travellers from Mumbai
- Clothes: Mumbai wardrobes aren’t built for Kashmir winters; carry thermals, a proper jacket and gloves. Snow boots and long coats can be hired near Gulmarg (agree the price first).
- Flights: the morning non-stop sells out first at peak times; a one-stop via Jammu is the next-quickest option.
- Return: avoid the last flight out of Srinagar in winter; fog and snow cause delays.
- Phone: prepaid SIMs from other states generally don’t work in J&K; carry a postpaid connection.
- What’s open: Baisaran near Pahalgam is still closed; Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari are open (November 2026). Read is Kashmir safe to visit.
