Short answer: A 6-day Kashmir trip in 2026–27 costs roughly ₹17,000–25,000 per person for the land part (hotels, houseboat, cab, sightseeing) on twin sharing, based on Suzu’s live package prices from ₹16,999. Add flights: one-way economy fares to Srinagar for December 2026 were about ₹6,400–8,700 from Delhi and ₹10,000–11,200 from Mumbai when we checked on 5 November 2026. Then budget about ₹3,000–6,000 per person for local extras such as the Gulmarg gondola (₹1,700 for both phases), Pahalgam union taxis, ponies and shikara rides. A realistic all-in figure from Delhi is about ₹30,000–40,000 per person.

How much does a Kashmir trip cost per person?

Split the cost into three parts: the land package, getting to Srinagar, and what you pay on the spot. Most “cheap” quotes look cheap because they leave out the third part.

How much are flights to Srinagar from major cities?

We checked one-way economy fares to Srinagar (SXR) for December 2026 on SlickTrip on 5 November 2026. Fares were shown in US dollars; we converted at about ₹95 to the dollar, the cross rate published in early November 2026.

These are a snapshot, not a promise; fares change daily. Double them for a return trip. If you prefer rail, you can reach Jammu or Katra by train and continue to Srinagar by road with our Jammu to Srinagar taxi (sedan from ₹6,399 one way) or by train on the Katra–Srinagar line.

What local extras should you budget for?

These are paid on the spot in almost every Kashmir package, including ours. A good quote lists them; a bad one hides them.

For two people on a 6-day trip, these usually add about ₹6,000–12,000 to the bill, depending on how many gondola phases, pony rides and union taxis you take. Per vehicle charges get cheaper per head in a group of four.

What does it cost if you plan it yourself?

If you book hotels yourself and only hire a cab, these are the building blocks (approx., 2026):

• Cab with driver: Suzu’s Srinagar rates start at ₹3,000 a day in a sedan, ₹3,500 in an Ertiga and ₹4,750 in an Innova Crysta for a full day of up to 250 km, plus ₹400 a night driver allowance on multi-day trips (Srinagar taxi service, November 2026).
• Houseboat: roughly ₹3,000–8,000 a night for an A-category boat and ₹5,000–20,000 for Deluxe (2026 travel guides; see our Dal Lake houseboat guide).
• Pahalgam hotels: about ₹1,200–3,000 budget, ₹3,500–8,000 mid-range a night (Zoutons, August 2026).
• Gulmarg hotels: the most expensive in winter and May–June; book early.

DIY can come out a little cheaper for a group of four in the off-season, but you carry the risk of road closures, union rules and last-minute changes. A package bundles the cab, rooms and timing into one price.

How can you cut the cost of a Kashmir trip?

• Travel early November to mid-December or September–October for off-season rates.
• Book flights early and avoid 20–31 December.
• Travel as four: cab, union taxi and houseboat costs divide better.
• Sleep in Gulmarg and Pahalgam instead of doing long day trips from Srinagar; you save fuel and time.
• Pick one gondola phase if you’re not keen on the top, and agree pony and sledge prices before starting.

What is the cost of a Kashmir trip for 2 people?

For a 6-day trip on twin sharing, the land package starts at about ₹34,000 for two (₹16,999 each on Suzu’s economy tour), plus flights and roughly ₹6,000–12,000 for two in local extras. From Delhi, a realistic all-in figure is about ₹66,000–80,000 for a couple in the off-season.

What is the cheapest month for a Kashmir trip?

Early November to mid-December is usually the cheapest window, with off-season hotel rates and lower flight fares (our 5 November 2026 check found the lowest Delhi–Srinagar fares in early December). September–October is also good value.

Is a Kashmir package cheaper than planning it myself?

Often similar for two people, sometimes cheaper DIY for groups of four in the off-season. A package removes the risk of union rules, road closures and last-minute hotel changes, and puts everything in one price.

Is the Gulmarg gondola included in Kashmir packages?

Usually not. Tickets are sold per person online by the J&K Cable Car Corporation; JKTDC lists ₹750 for Phase 1 and ₹950 for Phase 2. Budget ₹1,700 per adult for both.

How much does a Kashmir trip from Mumbai or Bengaluru cost?

Add return flights to the land package. In our December 2026 snapshot, one-way fares were about ₹10,000–11,200 from Mumbai and ₹13,000–14,800 from Bengaluru, so return flights add roughly ₹20,000–30,000 per person.

What extra costs are there in Pahalgam and Sonmarg?

Both run on local union vehicles. In Pahalgam, Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari cost roughly ₹1,500–2,200 per vehicle for the circuit; in Sonmarg, the Zero Point circuit is about ₹2,400–4,500 per vehicle, and Thajiwas ponies about ₹700–1,500 per person.

Do prices go up in winter?

Christmas–New Year and January weekends are expensive, especially in Gulmarg, and houseboats may add heating charges. Early to mid-December is cheaper and often already snowy at Gulmarg.
