Going home, take the 08:00 Vande Bharat from Srinagar to Jammu (12:45), then the 22440 Vande Bharat at 16:12 to New Delhi (23:10), or the Jammu Rajdhani at 21:25 (New Delhi 05:55). The 22439 day train reaches Katra at 14:20, only 35 minutes before the 14:55 Vande Bharat to Srinagar, so treat that connection as risky.

When should travellers from Delhi go to Kashmir?
Delhi schools were on summer vacation from 11 May to 30 June in 2026, which is when Kashmir is busiest with Delhi families; book flights and Gulmarg gondola slots early. April–June is the classic escape from the Delhi heat. Late December to February suits snow trips, with Gulmarg the surest place; see Kashmir snowfall and Kashmir in December. Tulips bloom from mid-March to mid-April, and September–November is clear and less crowded (Kashmir in November).

- Long weekends: the 06:45–08:40 flights and a Monday-evening return give you three full days.
