HP rules that apply to every flight

- Pilot trainingSince the 2025 amendment, tandem pilots must complete a simulation safety course (existing pilots by 31 August 2026).
- Local ordersKullu: logbook mandatory and a daily flight limit per operator. Indrunag: no flights after 6 pm.

Paragliding in Himachal — questions
Which is the best place for paragliding in Himachal?
Bir Billing in Kangra, for the highest take-off and longest flights; it hosted the Paragliding World Cup in 2015 and 2024. For a Manali trip, the Kullu sites are easier.
When is paragliding closed in Himachal?
Every year from 15 July to 15 September for the monsoon. Sites reopen after inspection — in 2026 Kangra flying resumed on 16 September.
What is the minimum age for paragliding in Himachal?
12 years, and at least 30 kg, under the HP Aero Sports Rules. People with heart, lung or epilepsy conditions and pregnant women cannot fly.
Is paragliding in Himachal safe?
It is safest with a registered pilot at a notified site in good weather. Check registration, use the full gear, and accept the pilot’s call if the wind is wrong.
Can I go paragliding in Dharamshala?
Yes, at Indrunag above the town; flights stop at 6 pm. Bir Billing is about two hours away for longer flights.
Is there paragliding near Shimla?
Junga near Shimla is a notified site, but it flies on fewer days. Ask us before you plan around it.
Do I need experience?
No. On a tandem flight a registered pilot flies; you only run a few steps at take-off and sit back.
