By long-standing Manali union practice, sightseeing to Solang, Atal Tunnel and Rohtang is done in Manali-registered taxis. Outside cabs drop you in Manali; we book the local taxi so you don’t have to bargain.
Rohtang permit
Rohtang needs an online permit (rohtangpermits.nic.in) with a daily vehicle cap, and the pass is closed on Tuesdays. We apply for it with the local taxi.
Snow months need a plan
From mid-December to February roads above Shimla and Manali can close after fresh snow. Drivers carry chains; sometimes the last stretch is done in a local 4×4. We confirm the day before.

What is the Manali to Rohtang taxi fare?
Around ₹3,999 in a hatchback, ₹4,999 in a sedan and ₹6,999 in an SUV/Innova, plus the online Rohtang permit. Rohtang is closed on Tuesdays and usually open from about May to November.
