Short answer: Rajasthan tour packages from Delhi fall into four routes. A 3–4 day Jaipur loop (Jaipur, with Pushkar or Ranthambore) by the 06:10 Shatabdi or a 4–5 hour drive; a 5–6 day Golden Triangle through Agra and Jaipur; a 6–7 day desert route Jaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer with an overnight train back; and a 5–6 day Udaipur circuit that starts with the overnight Mewar Express and adds Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur or Mount Abu. An 8-day plan joins the desert and Udaipur routes. Our own Rajasthan packages are priced on request for your dates and hotel band.

Which Rajasthan route from Delhi should you pick?
Delhi sits at Rajasthan’s north-east corner, which makes Jaipur (about 270–280 km) an easy first stop and everything else a question of how far west or south you are willing to go. The table below compares the four standard routes by days, distance and the sort of traveller they suit. All distances are approximate road figures; the trains are listed further down.
| Route | Days | Approx. road distance | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jaipur loop (+ Pushkar or Ranthambore) | 3–4 | 600–750 km return | Long weekends, first-timers, families with small children | Jaipur weekend hotel premium; Ranthambore safaris need booking weeks ahead |
| Golden Triangle (Agra + Jaipur) | 5–6 | About 750 km | Visitors wanting the Taj Mahal as well; NRI relatives | Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays |
| Desert route (Jaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer) | 6–7 | About 900 km one way + overnight train | Groups of friends, photographers, anyone who wants a dunes night | Long drives; camps mostly shut April–September |
| Udaipur circuit (+ Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur, Mount Abu) | 5–6 | Train in; 400–500 km of local driving | Couples, parents, monsoon and shoulder-season travel | Overnight train both ways unless you fly one leg |
| Grand circuit (desert + Udaipur) | 8–10 | About 1,500 km | Those with a full week or more | Fatigue; build in a rest day at Udaipur |
Long weekend: the Jaipur loop. Five or six days and never seen the Taj: the Golden Triangle. Six or seven days in winter: the desert route. Five or six days at any other time of year, or with older parents: the Udaipur circuit. Our best time to visit Rajasthan guide explains the seasonal logic month by month.
Route 1: the Jaipur loop from Delhi (3–4 days)
Leave Delhi on the 12015 Ajmer Shatabdi (New Delhi 06:10 → Jaipur 10:35, daily) or by car on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Bandikui spur, 3.5–5 hours door to door. Give Jaipur two full days: the Pink City on the first (City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Nahargarh sunset) and the Amer ridge on the second (Amer, Jaigarh, Jal Mahal, Albert Hall). Our Jaipur 2-day plan has the hour-by-hour version and the entry fees, which rose on 1 January 2026 (Amer ₹200, other state monuments ₹100 for Indians).
Use the third day for either Pushkar (about 150 km south-west, 3 hours; the Brahma temple, the ghats and the bazaar, plus the Ajmer Sharif dargah 14 km away) or Ranthambore (about 180 km south-east; safaris run from 1 October to 30 June and must be booked through the forest department portal well ahead). Return to Delhi on the fourth day. Our Jaipur to Pushkar guide and Ranthambore guide cover the two options; during the Pushkar Mela (17–25 November 2026), book hotels two to three months ahead.
Route 2: the Golden Triangle from Delhi (5–6 days)
Delhi → Agra (about 230 km, 3–3.5 hours on the Yamuna Expressway) → Jaipur (about 240 km, 5 hours with stops) → Delhi. Two nights in Agra and two in Jaipur is comfortable; one night in Agra works if you see the Taj at sunrise and leave by noon. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays and opens 30 minutes before sunrise, so plan the Agra days around that. Between Agra and Jaipur, Fatehpur Sikri (about 40 km from Agra) and the Chand Baori stepwell at Abhaneri (about 95 km before Jaipur) are the two stops worth making, and our Agra to Jaipur road guide covers both.
This is the route to choose if relatives are visiting from abroad or you have never been to Agra, and it is the easiest to do entirely by train. Our Golden Triangle tours from Delhi page and 5-day Golden Triangle itinerary go into detail; the Golden Triangle tour itself is priced on request.
Route 3: the desert route from Delhi (6–7 days)
Delhi → Jaipur (2 nights) → Jodhpur (about 335 km, 1–2 nights) → Jaisalmer (about 285 km, 2 nights including a Sam dunes camp) → overnight 12468 Leelan SF Express to Jaipur (about 12 h 40 m) → Delhi. Jodhpur gives you Mehrangarh (₹200 Indian, 09:00–17:00), Jaswant Thada, the blue lanes and the Clock Tower market; Jaisalmer gives you the living fort, the havelis, Kuldhara and the dunes. Our Rajasthan 5-day plan shows the compressed version and our Jaisalmer 3-day plan the expanded one with the Tanot–Longewala border day.
The train alternative for the Delhi–Jodhpur leg is the 26482 Vande Bharat (Delhi Cantt 15:10 → Jodhpur 23:20, not Tuesdays), which lets you skip Jaipur or do it on the way back. Note that under the 2026 rules many Sam camps accept only families and couples and the open dunes are restricted after sunset; our guide to the Sam dunes rules explains the detail, and it matters for all-male friends’ groups, who should confirm with the camp before paying.
Route 4: the Udaipur circuit from Delhi (5–6 days)
Take the overnight 12963 Mewar Express (Hazrat Nizamuddin 18:25 → Udaipur City 07:30, daily) or the 20473 Chetak Express (Delhi Sarai Rohilla 19:40 → Udaipur 07:48, daily), which saves a hotel night and a day of driving. Spend two days in Udaipur (City Palace, Lake Pichola, the Bagore ki Haveli dance show, Sajjangarh), one day on the Kumbhalgarh–Ranakpur loop, then either a night at Mount Abu (about 160 km, 3 hours) or a day at Chittorgarh (about 115 km). Fly back from Udaipur, or take the Mewar Express home from Udaipur or the Ashram Express from Abu Road.
This is our recommendation for parents, for couples and for anyone travelling between March and September, when Udaipur and Mount Abu are far more comfortable than the desert. Our Udaipur 3-day plan and Udaipur Mount Abu tour package guide cover the days in detail; the Magnificent Udaipur and Kumbhalgarh tour is the packaged version, priced on request.

Car, train or flight: how should you travel from Delhi?
A car with driver from Delhi is the most flexible and, for three or more people, usually the cheapest per head over a week, with stops at Abhaneri, Pushkar or Osian on the way. Expect about ₹2,800–₹3,500 a day for a sedan and ₹4,000–₹5,500 for an Innova-class SUV in our experience, with inclusions to be confirmed in writing; for groups of eight or more, a tempo traveller from Delhi works out cheaper per person, and our tempo traveller hire from Delhi page explains the sizes. The drawback is the long Delhi–Jodhpur and Jaisalmer–Delhi legs, which is why we usually mix a car with one overnight train.
Trains are cheaper, avoid Delhi traffic and December fog, and the overnight services to Udaipur and Jaisalmer save a hotel night; you then hire a local car in each city. Flights take about an hour but four hours door to door, so they suit the return leg from the far end of a route. Our Delhi to Jaipur guide compares the three on the busiest leg.
What do Rajasthan packages from Delhi cost?
Our Rajasthan packages, including the Royal Rajasthan tour package, the Padharo Rajasthan tour package and the shorter 3 nights 4 days Rajasthan vacation, are priced on request, because the hotel band changes the total more than the route does. As a planning guide, two people sharing a car and three-star hotels in the November–February season spend about ₹13,000–₹17,000 per person on the 3-day Jaipur loop, ₹22,000–₹28,000 on the 5–6 day routes and ₹32,000–₹40,000 on the 7–8 day circuits, excluding your travel from Delhi; our Rajasthan trip cost guide has the breakdown and our Rajasthan tour packages page lists all the options.
When we quote, a 20% token confirms the booking, refundable in full if you cancel within 48 hours of paying, and the balance is due before the trip.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best Rajasthan tour package from Delhi for 4 days?
The Jaipur loop: Shatabdi or car to Jaipur, two full days there (Pink City on one, Amer ridge on the other), a third day at Pushkar or Ranthambore, and back to Delhi on day four. It covers about 600–750 km in total, works on a long weekend, and the 12015 Shatabdi at 06:10 gives you a full first afternoon in Jaipur.
How many days are enough for Rajasthan from Delhi?
Four days covers Jaipur and one nearby stop; six to seven days covers Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer or the Golden Triangle; five to six days covers Udaipur with Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur and Mount Abu. Eight to ten days joins the desert and Udaipur routes into a full circuit. Fewer than four days from Delhi is really just a Jaipur trip.
What is the best way to travel from Delhi to Rajasthan?
For Jaipur, the 06:10 Shatabdi (arrives 10:35) or a 3.5–5 hour drive. For Udaipur and Jaisalmer, the overnight Mewar Express (Nizamuddin 18:25 → 07:30) and Runicha Express (Old Delhi 08:55 → Jaisalmer 01:30) save a hotel night. A car with driver from Delhi suits groups of three or more and lets you stop along the way; flights suit the return leg from the far end.
Can I do Rajasthan from Delhi by train only?
Yes. Shatabdi to Jaipur, Vande Bharat to Jodhpur (not Tuesdays), Swarn Nagari or Runicha to Jaisalmer, Leelan Express back to Jaipur, and the Mewar or Chetak Express for Udaipur. You hire a local car or use autos in each city. It is cheaper than a car throughout and avoids the long desert drives, but you lose the roadside stops at Pushkar, Osian or Abhaneri.
When should I book a Rajasthan package from Delhi?
For December and the Christmas–New Year week, book hotels and trains two to three months ahead; IRCTC opens 60 days before travel and the Shatabdi, Vande Bharat and Mewar Express sell out fast. For the Pushkar Mela (17–25 November 2026) book Pushkar hotels even earlier. Late January and February need only two to four weeks’ notice for most hotels.
How much does a Rajasthan tour package from Delhi cost?
Our packages are quoted on request for your dates and hotel band. As a guide, two people sharing a car and three-star hotels in season spend about ₹13,000–₹17,000 per person for a 3-day Jaipur loop, ₹22,000–₹28,000 for the 5–6 day routes and ₹32,000–₹40,000 for 7–8 day circuits, excluding travel from Delhi. Heritage hotels roughly double these figures.
