Surat has no flights to Chandigarh or Kullu. Three trains, including the daily Paschim Express, run from Surat to Chandigarh in 18–24 hours. How do you get from Surat to Manali?

Surat sits on the busy Mumbai–Delhi main line, so it has more direct trains north than most cities its size, and a handful of daily flights to Delhi. What it lacks is a flight to Chandigarh. That makes Delhi the natural gateway, with Chandigarh as the train-only alternative.

The 12217 Kerala Sampark Kranti is the hidden gem: it reaches Chandigarh at 09:50, which leaves time to drive to Manali the same day. Check which two days it runs before planning around it. The Rajdhani is still the most reliable choice because it runs every night; in December and January allow for fog delays in Haryana and Delhi.

Can you fly from Surat to Manali?

Only to Delhi. On Friday 20 November 2026 Surat had five non-stop Delhi flights: Air India Express at 07:50 and 21:35, and IndiGo at 09:45, 20:45 and 22:45, each 1 h 40 min to 1 h 55 min. There were no non-stop flights from Surat to Chandigarh; the connecting options take seven hours or more, so they lose to the train.

There is no Surat–Kullu flight, and for winter 2026–27 Kullu has no Delhi flights either; Alliance Air dropped the route after 24 October 2026. Fly into Delhi, then go by road.

What is the best plan for a Manali trip from Surat?

• Diwali vacation: Gujarat schools are closed from 5 to 25 November 2026. That is good timing for Manali: off-season prices, clear skies and the first cold. Book now if you want to travel in this window.
• Summer vacation 2027: 3 May to 6 June 2027 in the Gujarat board calendar. Expect peak prices and full trains; book the Rajdhani as soon as reservations open.
• Snow: late December to February. New Year week is peak and crowded; January is better value.
• Avoid: mid-July to mid-September, when monsoon landslides block the Mandi–Kullu road.
