Short answer: from Ahmedabad, the quickest way into Himachal is the non-stop IndiGo flight to Chandigarh (about 1 hour 45 minutes), then a Chandigarh-start trip (a Chandigarh airport taxi can meet you at arrivals), which costs less than starting in Delhi. Other Ahmedabad–Delhi trains include the daily Ashram Express (12915) and Gujarat Sampark Kranti (12917), each about 14 hours. Timetables and flight schedules change, so check IRCTC or your airline before you book. None of Himachal’s three small airports (Kangra, Kullu–Bhuntar and Shimla) has a non-stop flight from Ahmedabad. They are reached through Delhi, and they are weather-dependent. Which route to choose
- Short on leave: fly to Chandigarh. You start in the hills on the same day and pay the lower Chandigarh-start rate. If you land after about midday, we go to Shimla first (3–3.5 hours from the airport) and do Manali later in the trip.
- Prefer the train: take the Rajdhani. You sleep on board, our driver meets you at New Delhi station at about 07:30, and you reach Shimla the same afternoon. Manali is 11–13 hours from Delhi, so we never drive there straight off an overnight train, and we don’t drive into the hills at night.
- Your dates match the through train: 22451 drops you in Chandigarh in the early afternoon, so we drive straight to Shimla. Return trains on this route also run only on certain days, so tell us your train dates and we’ll plan the trip around them.

Gujarat school holidays and our season dates
Off-season (the rates shown above): 1 July – 30 September, 1 November – 19 December, and 6 January – 14 March.
Peak season (25% above the off-season rate): 15 March – 30 June, the whole of October, and 20 December – 5 January.
- Diwali vacation, 5–25 November 2026: the Gujarat Board’s 21-day break falls entirely in our off-season, so a family trip in the Diwali holidays is charged at the rates above. - Summer vacation, 3 May – 6 June 2027: this falls entirely in peak season. Rates are 25% higher and Ahmedabad–Chandigarh flights fill early, so it pays to book flights and hotels together, well ahead.
