Two nights on a train each way adds four days to the trip. That only makes sense if the journey is part of the holiday, or for a group where the fare difference is large. Everyone else should fly.
Can you fly from Bangalore to Manali?
To Chandigarh, yes. Our check for Friday 20 November 2026 showed IndiGo at 06:55, 12:10 and 18:00 and Air India Express at 07:55 and 15:40, each about 3 hours; Akasa Air also lists the route. The two morning flights land at 10:00 and 10:55, early enough to reach Manali by evening.

What is the best plan for a Manali trip from Bangalore?
Fly the 06:55 or 07:55 to Chandigarh, drive straight to Manali, and give yourself five nights there and a last night in Chandigarh. Bangalore travellers come a long way for the mountains, so a seven-day trip with a spare weather day is worth it, and the Chandigarh night lets you take any flight home on Day 7.

- Dasara holidays: Karnataka schools were closed from 3 to 21 October 2026. October is peak season in our pricing and a lovely time for clear views, but not for snow.
- Summer vacation: begins 11 April 2027 under the Karnataka 2026–27 calendar. April and May are peak in Manali; book flights early.
- Snow: late December to February. For a first snow trip, mid-January to mid-February has the best odds.
- Avoid: mid-July to mid-September (monsoon).
