What does an India tour package from the UK actually include?

Our packages are land-only. The price covers hotels on a twin-share basis, a private air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver for every transfer and sightseeing day, breakfast at most hotels, tolls, parking, driver allowances and the taxes on all of that. Flights from the UK, the e-visa, monument entry fees, lunches and dinners, and tips are paid separately. We price it this way because most British travellers book their own flights with points or a fare sale, and because entry fees for foreign nationals change from year to year.

The published prices below are per person, in a Deluxe hotel category, for the off-season bands of 1 November to 19 December and 6 January to 14 March. Christmas and New Year (20 December to 5 January) and the spring season from 15 March cost about 25% more because hotel rates rise. If you prefer heritage or five-star hotels, we quote separately. Our India tour packages page lists the full range.

How much do the packages cost in pounds?

These are the packages with a fixed published price on our site as of 30 October 2026. The pound column uses ₹127 to the pound, the Bank of England spot rate on 23 October 2026 (Pound Sterling Live, checked 30 October 2026), so treat it as a guide. Your card will settle at your bank’s rate on the day.

Package Length Per person (₹) Approx. £ Starts from
Shimla–Manali from Chandigarh 5 nights / 6 days ₹12,499 £98 Chandigarh
Shimla–Manali from Delhi 5 nights / 6 days ₹14,999 £118 Delhi
Manali from Delhi 4 nights / 5 days ₹14,999 £118 Delhi
Incredible Himachal from Delhi Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala ₹18,999 £150 Delhi
Dharamshala–Dalhousie from Delhi 4 nights / 5 days ₹16,499 £130 Delhi
Eccentric Kinnaur from Chandigarh 6 nights ₹24,999 £197 Chandigarh
Kinnaur–Kaza with Chandratal Summer circuit ₹32,500 £256 Shimla / Chandigarh
Winter Spiti from Shimla 6 nights ₹28,500 £224 Shimla
Snowclad Kashmir Superior Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam ₹32,500 £256 Srinagar
Kerala Honeymoon Special 5 nights / 6 days ₹22,500 £177 Kochi

The Golden Triangle, Rajasthan, Kerala Highlights and Ladakh routes do not carry a fixed price because hotel choice swings the cost by a factor of three or more. Send us your dates, group size and the hotel standard you want, and we reply with a pound figure. For a feel of what a Delhi–Agra–Jaipur trip costs at different hotel levels, see our Golden Triangle cost guide.

Which routes do British travellers book most?

From our enquiries over the past two seasons, four routes account for most UK bookings.

  • Golden Triangle (5–7 days): Delhi, Agra and Jaipur by private car. The classic first trip, and the one most two-week itineraries start with. Our 7-day Golden Triangle itinerary shows the day-by-day shape.
  • Rajasthan (10–14 days): the Golden Triangle extended through Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur. Popular with couples and retirees from October to March.
  • Kerala (7–10 days): Kochi, Munnar tea country, a houseboat on the backwaters and a beach. Strong with families and honeymooners, and the only route we recommend in the British Christmas holidays without a long cold spell.
  • Himachal and the Himalayas (6–12 days): Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala in the hills north of Delhi, or the high-altitude Kinnaur–Spiti circuit in summer. This is where we are based, and where our own cars and drivers operate.

Travellers with three weeks often combine two of these, for example the Golden Triangle followed by a flight to Kochi, or Delhi and Amritsar followed by the hills. Our two-week India itinerary and North India itinerary set out the combinations that work.

How do you get from the UK to India, and what does it cost on top?

Nonstop London–Delhi flights are operated by Air India, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic from Heathrow, and IndiGo added a Delhi–Heathrow service in February 2026 (Travel Trade Journal, checked 30 October 2026). Block time is 8.5–9.5 hours eastbound. Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh connect through the Gulf or Istanbul with one stop, typically 12–14 hours in total. Air India also flies Heathrow–Mumbai and Birmingham–Delhi on some days; check the current timetable before you commit.

How does booking work from the UK?

You send us your dates, the route you have in mind, the number of travellers and the hotel standard you want. We reply within a working day with a day-by-day plan and a price, usually in rupees with a pound equivalent. Once you are happy, we send a payment link.

  • Token: 20% of the package confirms a Himachal booking. International Visa and Mastercard are accepted through Razorpay, and PayPal is accepted too. Details are on our payment and booking page.
  • Cooling-off: cancel within 48 hours of paying the token and we refund it in full.
  • After 48 hours: the advance is non-refundable, but you can move your dates once within 6 months. The full terms are on our cancellation and refund policy.
  • Balance: due before the trip starts, by the same methods.
  • Documents: we send hotel vouchers, the driver’s name and mobile number, and a WhatsApp contact for the trip.

We are a Himachal Pradesh company, registered with HP Tourism under number DTO-MND-11-243/2022, with an office on NH-103 at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district. For routes outside Himachal we work with hotel and transport partners we have used for several seasons, and we remain your single point of contact. Our guide to checking a local tour operator in India explains what to ask any company before you pay.

When should you travel from the UK?

October to March is the main season for the Golden Triangle, Rajasthan and Kerala: dry, with daytime highs of 20–30°C in the north and around 30°C in Kerala. December and January can be foggy on the north Indian plains in the early morning, which delays trains and flights. The hills behave differently: Shimla and Manali have snow from late December to February, Kinnaur and Spiti are a summer circuit (June to mid-October by road from Manali, with the Manali–Kaza road shut since 15 October 2026), and winter Spiti via Shimla runs from December to March for travellers who want frozen landscapes.

For British school holidays: February half term suits Kerala, Goa and the Golden Triangle; Easter is warm but workable in the north and ideal in the hills; the summer holidays suit Ladakh, Kashmir, Spiti and Manali, and are monsoon season almost everywhere else. Our best time to visit India guide goes month by month.

What is different about booking with a local operator rather than a UK tour company?

A UK operator sells you the same hotels and the same car, bought from an Indian ground handler, with its own margin and ATOL cover on top. Booking with us removes one layer: you deal with the people who employ the driver and book the hotel, and you can change a day’s plan by messaging us. The trade-off is that your flight is booked separately and is not covered by a package protection scheme, so buy travel insurance with cancellation cover.

Group sizes also differ. Nearly everything we run is private: your car, your driver, your pace. If you want a small-group departure, say so and we will tell you honestly whether one exists for your dates. Our comparison of private and group tours in India covers the pros and cons.

Frequently asked questions

How much is an India tour package from the UK?

Our published land-only packages run from ₹12,499 (about £98) per person for 6 days in Shimla and Manali to ₹32,500 (about £256) per person for a Kinnaur–Spiti circuit or Kashmir, at ₹127 to the pound. Golden Triangle, Rajasthan and Kerala itineraries are priced to your dates and hotel choice. Flights, visa and entry fees are extra.

Are flights included in the package price?

No. All our prices are land-only: hotels, private car and driver, transfers, breakfast at most hotels and taxes. Most British travellers book their own London–Delhi flight, which takes 8.5–9.5 hours nonstop with Air India, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic or IndiGo. We can advise on arrival times that fit the first day of your plan.

Can I pay in pounds with a UK card?

You pay in rupees through a Razorpay link that accepts international Visa and Mastercard, or through PayPal. Your card issuer converts at its own rate on the day, so the pound figures in this guide are approximate. A 20% token confirms a Himachal package and the balance is due before the trip begins.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 48 hours of paying the token, we refund it in full. After that the advance is non-refundable, but you can change your travel dates once within six months of the original booking. The balance follows the terms on our cancellation and refund policy page, which we send with every quote.

Do British citizens need a visa for India?

Yes. UK passport holders apply online for an e-visa before travel. On the fee tables we checked on 30 October 2026, the 30-day e-tourist visa costs US$25 (US$10 for arrivals in April to June) and the one-year multiple-entry visa US$40, each plus a 3% bank charge. Apply between 120 and 4 days before you fly.

Is a private driver safe for a first trip to India?

In our experience it is the most comfortable way to see north India. Our drivers have worked the Himachal, Delhi and Rajasthan routes for years, handle tolls and parking, and wait at each sight. You get a name and mobile number before you arrive and a WhatsApp line to our office throughout the trip.
