Some travellers, especially families with small children or older parents, prefer to sleep in Srinagar every night and go out on day trips. This is the plan we build for them. It follows the same places as the Magical Kashmir Economy tour, but you do not move hotels. We quote it for your dates.

Our Kashmir Houseboat Tour is the 5-day version: Day 1 houseboat and shikara; Day 2 Gulmarg day trip (gondola Phase 1 and 2) and back to Srinagar; Day 3 drive to Pahalgam via the Pampore saffron fields and Avantipora ruins; Day 4 back to Srinagar for the Mughal gardens and Shankaracharya temple; Day 5 airport. What is open around Srinagar now (November 2026)
- Srinagar: Dal Lake, the houseboats, the Mughal gardens and the old city are open.
- Gulmarg: the town and the gondola are running. The gondola was shut from 25 May 2026 for a technical fault and reopened in late June 2026 (Curly Tales, 26 June 2026). Phase 2 often stops in high wind or heavy snow.
- Pahalgam: the town, Betaab Valley (open since 17 June 2025) and Aru Valley (open since 29 September 2025) are open. Baisaran meadow is still closed: it is on the Anantnag district list of closed destinations dated 7 July 2026, and we found no reopening order up to early November 2026. Chandanwari was reported reopened in June 2026 but is also on that July list, so check at the taxi stand on the day.
- Trekking routes in Kashmir stayed closed “until further orders” in July 2026 (The Wire, 15 July 2026).

Best time for a Srinagar trip
- Late March–April: tulips at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, and almond and apple blossom.
- May–June: green meadows, every road open; busiest and most expensive.
- July–August: green, but Amarnath Yatra traffic around Pahalgam and Sonamarg.
- September–November: clear skies, golden chinars from late October, off-season rates.
- December–February: snow in Gulmarg and often in Srinagar. Chillai Kalan (21 December–31 January) is the coldest stretch, so book heated rooms.

Are Gulmarg gondola tickets included?
