Where groups take our Tempo Traveller
Where groups of 8–12 take the 12-seater most from Delhi NCR and Chandigarh, and what each trip needs.
- Rishikesh · HaridwarAbout 220–240 km from Delhi, 5–6 hours. The favourite 12-seater weekend: Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri, then rafting or a Neelkanth darshan from Rishikesh with the whole group in one van.
- Agra · Mathura–VrindavanThe Yamuna Expressway makes Agra (about 230 km) or Vrindavan an easy same-day round trip from Delhi — leave at 6 am, see the Taj in the morning light and be back by night.
- Mussoorie · DehradunAbout 280 km from Delhi via Meerut and Dehradun. The van climbs to Mussoorie’s main road; Kempty Falls and Dhanaulti are short add-ons on the same day.
- Shimla · KufriAbout 345 km and 7–8 hours from Delhi, or 115 km from the Tricity. The van stops at the nearest road point — the Mall and Ridge are closed to vehicles.
- ManaliAbout 540 km from Delhi (11–13 hours) or 290 km from Chandigarh on the Kiratpur–Nerchowk four-lane through Mandi. Start at 5–6 am; many Delhi groups break the drive for a night.
- Katra (Vaishno Devi)About 640 km on the NH44 via Panipat, Ludhiana and Jammu — a classic family yatra in a 12-seater; most groups halt a night at Amritsar or Pathankot.

Good to know before you book
12-seater or 17-seater?
For 8–11 people with suitcases the 12-seater is the sweet spot: ₹26/km on round trips against ₹30/km for the 17-seater. With 12 adults and big bags, step up to the 17-seater — the extra seats carry the luggage.
Or two cars?
For 6–7 people an Innova Crysta (₹19/km round trip) is cheaper and quicker on hill bends. From 8 people up, one Traveller costs less than two cars and keeps the group together.
Luggage that fits
About ten medium bags go on the roof carrier under a rain tarpaulin, plus small bags inside. Soft bags load faster than hard suitcases; keep medicines and jackets in the cabin.
State taxes are extra
Every state you enter charges its own tourist-vehicle tax for a Traveller (Himachal, Uttarakhand, Punjab, J&K, Rajasthan). We add them at actuals and list them in your quote. Details: Himachal entry tax & permits 2026.
Manali local sightseeing
The Traveller takes you to Manali and back, but Solang, the Atal Tunnel–Sissu side and Rohtang are done in Manali’s locally registered union taxis. Rohtang needs an online permit and is closed on Tuesdays — we book those local cabs with your trip.
No night driving in the hills
For safety our drivers do not run hill sections late at night. Leave early (5–6 am from Delhi) and plan to reach before dark; the quote tells you the best start time.

What is the seating arrangement in a 12 seater Tempo Traveller?
