Road tips for Delhi to Mussoorie
Weekend parking rule
On busy weekends Dehradun Police runs a special Mussoorie traffic plan: once the town’s parking is about 90% full, cars are stopped at Kincraig and visitors go on in local taxis. Tell us your hotel — if it has parking, the driver will try to get you to the door; a Friday or Saturday morning arrival helps.
Green cess at the border
Since 15 February 2026 out-of-state cars pay Uttarakhand’s green cess (₹80 for light vehicles), logged by cameras on entry; CNG and electric cars are exempt. It is added to your quote at actuals, along with the expressway tolls.
Register your visit
Uttarakhand introduced online tourist registration for Mussoorie in August 2025. Checks on the ground are patchy, but it takes a few minutes — register before you travel in case your hotel or a checkpoint asks.
Kempty, Dhanaulti and Landour
Kempty Falls is about 15 km past Mussoorie and Dhanaulti about 25 km the other way. Add either to the drop, or book a day of local sightseeing with the same car and driver — tell us when you book and we quote one fare.
Mall Road is on foot
Mall Road and the Landour bazaar lanes are best done on foot. The driver drops you at the nearest parking or your hotel and picks you up there; plan for a short walk with luggage if your hotel sits above the road.
Monsoon caution
Mid-July to August brings landslides on hill highways. We watch road advisories and move your start time or route when needed — no extra charge for a route change we suggest.

Questions travellers ask
What is the taxi fare from Delhi to Mussoorie?
One-way fares start around ₹3,199 for a hatchback, ₹3,799 for a sedan, ₹4,599 for an Ertiga, ₹5,099 for a Kia Carens and ₹6,399 for an Innova Crysta. A 12-seater Tempo Traveller starts around ₹8,599. Tolls, parking and Uttarakhand’s green cess are extra at actuals; peak dates cost more.
How long does Delhi to Mussoorie take by car?
About 5–6 hours door to door. The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, opened in April 2026, takes about 2.5 hours from Akshardham to Dehradun; crossing Dehradun and the 35 km climb to Mussoorie add the rest. Weekend afternoons can add 1–2 hours near Mussoorie.
Which route does the taxi take to Mussoorie?
Mostly the new Delhi–Dehradun Expressway via Baghpat, Shamli and Saharanpur, over the Rajaji elevated corridor and through the Datkali tunnel, then Dehradun to Kuthal Gate and up the hill road. The older route via Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee is used only if the expressway is blocked.
Is the Mussoorie to Delhi fare the same?
Yes. The same one-way fares apply from any Mussoorie or Landour hotel to anywhere in Delhi NCR, including IGI Airport and the railway stations.
Can I do a Delhi–Mussoorie–Delhi round trip?
Yes. Round trips and tours are billed per kilometre driven (a sedan is ₹12/km, 250 km daily minimum) plus ₹400 a night driver allowance. A 2–3 day trip with Kempty Falls and Dhanaulti in the same car is the most popular plan.
Can you pick me up from Delhi airport for Mussoorie?
Yes, from IGI T1, T2 or T3. The driver waits at arrivals with your name and tracks your flight; a morning landing still gets you to Mussoorie before dark.
Can we stop at Dehradun, Rishikesh or Haridwar on the way?
Dehradun is on the route, so a stop for lunch or the Robber’s Cave costs only time. Haridwar or Rishikesh is a detour of a few hours — tell us and we quote it as one fare.
Is it safe to drive up to Mussoorie at night?
Our drivers avoid the hill section late at night. Leave Delhi by 6–7 am to reach Mussoorie by early afternoon; if you start later, we plan the climb before dark.
