Where groups take our Tempo Traveller
Where Tricity groups take a Tempo Traveller most, and what each trip needs.
- Tricity pickupAny sector of Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula or Zirakpur, the railway station, ISBT-43 or ISBT-17, or the IXC arrivals exit — the whole group boards in one place with the luggage on the roof carrier.
- Kasauli · ShimlaKasauli is about 60 km and Shimla about 115 km (3–3.5 hours) up the Kalka–Shimla highway via Parwanoo and Solan — a comfortable first hill day for a group.
- Manali · KasolAbout 280–290 km, 7–8 hours on the Kiratpur–Nerchowk four-lane through Mandi; Kasol turns off at Bhuntar. Leave the Tricity by 6–7 am.
- Dharamshala · McLeodganjAbout 240 km, 5.5–6.5 hours via Ropar, Una and Kangra. Bigger vehicles stop in the lower town; McLeodganj’s narrow lanes are easier in a smaller car.
- AmritsarAbout 230 km, 4–5 hours on the NH44 via Ludhiana and Jalandhar — Golden Temple and the Wagah–Attari ceremony in one long day or with a night halt.
- Haridwar · RishikeshAbout 230 km to Rishikesh, 5–6 hours via Saharanpur and Haridwar — a favourite for family yatras and office rafting weekends.
- Delhi · IGI airportAbout 250 km, 4–5 hours via Ambala, Karnal and Panipat, for an airport drop at the end of a group tour or a wedding party run.

Good to know before you book
Pick the right size
A 12-seater is comfortable for 9–10 adults with full suitcases; 12 adults fit, but with soft bags only. For 13–15 people take the 17-seater, and for a premium group ride with more legroom the Force Urbania. Two vehicles beat one cramped one on a 7-hour hill day.
Himachal and other state taxes
Tempo Travellers pay at each state barrier: a 12-seat vehicle registered outside Himachal pays the ₹100-a-day entry fee in 2026–27, while bigger tourist vehicles pay a higher seat-based tax, and Punjab, Uttarakhand and J&K charge their own. All at actuals, listed in your quote. Details: Himachal entry tax & permits 2026.
Manali local sightseeing
The Traveller drops you in Manali and drives you back, but Solang, the Atal Tunnel–Sissu side and Rohtang are done in locally registered union taxis. Rohtang needs an online permit and is closed on Tuesdays — we book the local cabs with your trip.
No night driving in the hills
For safety our drivers do not run hill sections late at night. Leave early (5–6 am from Delhi) and plan to reach before dark; the quote tells you the best start time.
Luggage and rain
A roof carrier and a tarpaulin come with every Tempo Traveller. Pack soft bags where you can — they fit the rear rack better than hard suitcases — and keep a small day bag inside for medicines and warm layers.
Snow months need a plan
From mid-December to February roads above Shimla and Manali can close after fresh snow. Drivers carry chains; sometimes the last stretch is done in a local 4×4. We confirm the day before.
