A Rajasthan DMC is the local ground partner that runs your client’s trip once they reach Rajasthan: the arrival transfer, heritage-hotel and desert-camp contracting, a vehicle and driver for the long distances between cities, monument guides, Ranthambore safari permits and on-trip problem solving, all billed to you at net rates so you add your own margin. The 2026-27 season starts now. The heat has broken, the tiger reserves reopened on 1 October, and the next six months carry Diwali, the Pushkar fair, a crowded wedding season, Christmas–New Year, the Jaipur Literature Festival and the Jaisalmer Desert Festival. Each of these fills hotels and changes how a Rajasthan itinerary should be built. This guide is for travel agents and tour operators who sell Rajasthan and want those details right before they quote.
What a Rajasthan DMC does for a travel agent
In Rajasthan the ground work splits into six jobs:
- Arrival handling: meeting clients at Jaipur, Udaipur or Jodhpur airport, at a railway station, or at the Delhi end of a road transfer, with flight and train tracking.
- Hotel and camp contracting: palace and haveli hotels in Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur, fort stays, and desert camps near Jaisalmer, in the right category and with the right room type. In Rajasthan, “heritage” covers everything from a restored palace to a converted townhouse with small rooms, so the category has to be specified.
- Transport: sedans, SUVs, tempo travellers and coaches, with drivers who do the long Rajasthan circuits every week and know where to stop for food and rest on a seven-hour leg.
- Sightseeing and permits: licensed monument guides, Ranthambore safari bookings, Lake Pichola boat rides, cultural evenings and desert excursions.
- Documentation: vouchers, driver details shared before arrival, and a day-by-day plan the client can follow without calling you.
- On-trip problem solving: a delayed train, a closed monument, a sick child or a client who wants an extra night in Udaipur, handled by someone on the ground.
Everything goes out under your brand. The DMC stays white-label unless you ask otherwise. If you are new to working with ground partners, our explainer on what a DMC is and how agents choose one covers the basics.
Who handles what: travel agent vs Rajasthan DMC
The split below is how responsibility usually divides on a Rajasthan file. Anything not listed should be agreed in writing before confirmation.
| Task | Travel agent keeps | DMC handles |
|---|---|---|
| Selling price and margin | Sets the selling price, collects from the client and owns the client relationship | Quotes a net cost per file, with Indian and foreign monument fees costed separately |
| Flights and trains | Books flights or trains and shares the PNR; an open-jaw ticket saves a day | Builds the road route around the arrival and departure points, with no back-to-back long legs |
| Hotels and desert camps | Approves the shortlist with the client | Contracts rooms and camps, names the exact property, and keeps a same-category backup in wedding season |
| Ranthambore safari | Tells the DMC whether the safari is a must, and gypsy or canter | Books the safari permit before the hotel for peak dates; the zone is allotted with the permit and no sighting is guaranteed |
| Vehicle, driver and guides | Nothing to arrange | Assigns the vehicle, driver and licensed monument guides, and schedules long legs in daylight |
| Vouchers and itinerary | Your brand on every document | Prepares white-label vouchers, driver details and a day-by-day plan before arrival |
| Problems during the trip | Kept informed | Handles late trains, monument closures, illness and extra-night requests locally |
| Invoicing and payment | Pays the DMC per file; ask for the payment schedule and cancellation terms in writing with the quote | Issues a GST invoice to your business (Suzu Travels is GST-registered, GSTIN 02BLPPK1401E1ZR) |

Distances: the part most Rajasthan quotes get wrong
Rajasthan is India’s largest state, and the classic circuit is a road trip with long days. The most common complaint from clients is not the hotel. It is spending most of their holiday in a car because the itinerary packed in too many cities. Approximate road distances on the main circuit:
| Leg | Approx. distance | Approx. driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi – Jaipur | 270–280 km | 5 to 6 hours |
| Jaipur – Ranthambore (Sawai Madhopur) | about 160 km | 3.5 to 4 hours |
| Jaipur – Pushkar | about 145 km | 3 to 3.5 hours |
| Jaipur – Jodhpur | about 335 km | 6 to 7 hours |
| Jodhpur – Jaisalmer | about 285 km | 5 to 6 hours |
| Jodhpur – Udaipur (via Ranakpur) | about 250–260 km | 6 to 7 hours with the temple stop |
| Udaipur – Kumbhalgarh | about 85 km | 2 to 2.5 hours |
Times are for daytime driving with normal breaks and change with traffic, festival crowds and the vehicle. Two rules keep clients happy. First, never schedule two long legs back to back; put a full sightseeing day between them. Second, use an open-jaw plan. A client who flies into Jaipur and out of Udaipur, or takes a train for the Jaisalmer leg, saves a whole day of backtracking. A good DMC will look at your client’s flights before it builds the route, not after.
Rajasthan season calendar 2026-27 for agents
Rajasthan’s selling season runs from October to March. Each month has its own pressure point:
| Period | What is happening | What it means for your bookings |
|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | Heat breaks; Ranthambore and Sariska core zones reopened on 1 October; Navratri and Dussehra | Shoulder rates and warm afternoons. A good month for value FITs and first safaris of the season. |
| November 2026 | Diwali week (around 8 November); Pushkar fair 17–24 November, ending on Kartik Purnima (24 November); wedding season starts late in the month | Pushkar rooms and fair-ground camps sell out and carry special rates. Palace hotels in Udaipur and Jaipur start blocking dates for weddings. |
| December 2026 | Peak wedding dates; Christmas and New Year | Rajasthan’s peak. Udaipur lake-view rooms, Jaisalmer desert camps and Ranthambore safaris for 24 December–1 January go first, often with minimum stays and compulsory gala dinners. |
| January 2027 | Makar Sankranti kite flying in Jaipur (14 January); Jaipur Literature Festival 14–18 January at Hotel Clarks Amer | Jaipur hotels tighten in mid-January. Cold mornings in the desert; brief clients to pack warm layers for camp nights. |
| February 2027 | Jaisalmer Desert Festival, expected around Magh Purnima (about 18–20 February) | Jaisalmer and the Sam dunes camps fill for festival dates. Otherwise pleasant weather and better rates than December. |
| March 2027 | Holi in late March; temperatures start climbing | Holi in Jaipur, Udaipur or Pushkar sells well to international clients. After Holi, Rajasthan moves into its quieter summer season. |
Festival dates follow the Hindu calendar, and the Desert Festival programme is published by Rajasthan Tourism closer to the event. Confirm exact dates before you put them in a client’s itinerary.
Five things to get right in a Rajasthan quote
1. Ranthambore safaris are a separate booking
A Ranthambore hotel booking does not include a safari. Safaris run in two shifts a day, in open six-seat gypsies or larger canters, and the zone is allotted with the permit. Popular dates sell out weeks or months ahead, especially Diwali week and Christmas–New Year, and last-minute seats cost far more than regular ones. If the tiger is the reason your client is going, confirm the safari before you confirm the hotel. Brief clients that gypsies are better for photography, canters are cheaper and suit groups, and no zone guarantees a sighting. If your client is also asking about Corbett, our post on which safari zones open in October covers the reopening dates across India’s main reserves.
2. Monument tickets have gone up
Rajasthan revised its monument entry fees from 1 January 2026. Amer Fort is now ₹200 for Indian visitors and ₹1,000 for foreign visitors, and Hawa Mahal is ₹100 and ₹600. The state’s composite ticket for Jaipur’s monuments is now valid for 10 days. If you sell packages with entry fees included, update your costing, and quote foreign and Indian clients separately. Many agents still work from older rate sheets.
3. Desert camps vary more than the photos suggest
“Luxury desert camp near Jaisalmer” can mean a permanent Swiss tent with a proper bathroom, or a temporary tent set up in a crowded camp strip with loud music until late. Ask your DMC for the exact camp name, whether the tents have attached bathrooms and hot water, and how far the camp is from the dunes. Families and honeymooners usually prefer a quieter camp away from the busiest strip near Sam, even if it means a short drive for the camel ride at sunset.
4. Wedding season changes hotel availability
From late November to February, palace hotels in Udaipur, Jaipur and Jodhpur are often bought out for weddings at short notice. A room on hold is not a confirmed room. For December and February travel, confirm the hotel in writing, keep a backup in the same category, and avoid promising a specific palace property until the deposit is paid.
5. Plan the long legs around daylight
Do not schedule Rajasthan’s long highway legs after dark. Cattle, slow tractors and unlit trucks make night driving tiring and less safe. A good itinerary leaves after breakfast and arrives in the afternoon, with time for a sunset view at the destination.
Building Rajasthan packages that sell
Most Rajasthan enquiries fit one of four shapes.
The Golden Triangle plus Rajasthan (7 to 10 days)
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, extended to Ranthambore or Udaipur. This is the most common first trip for international clients. Our Golden Triangle tour of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur is the base we usually extend.
The grand circuit (10 to 14 days)
Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur, with Ranakpur on the Jodhpur–Udaipur drive. Our Royal Rajasthan tour package shows a pace that leaves room for sightseeing between long drives. You can re-badge it for your own clients.
Udaipur and Mewar short breaks (3 to 5 days)
Udaipur’s lakes and palaces with Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur or Mount Abu. These sell well to couples and to Gujarat and Mumbai families on long weekends. The Udaipur and Kumbhalgarh tour is a ready-made option.
Groups, MICE and weddings
Jaipur and Udaipur have the convention space and the palace venues. For groups, the DMC’s real work is coach movement, rooming lists, meal plans (including vegetarian and Jain) and keeping 40 people on one schedule. Ask for a single coordinator who travels with the group.
You can browse all our itineraries on the Rajasthan tour packages page.
Why a multi-state DMC beats an aggregator for Rajasthan
An aggregator sells you a room and a car. When the safari zone changes, the train is late or the camp is not what the client expected, your client gets a helpline. A DMC gives them a person who knows their booking. For agents, the practical advantages are:
- One partner across your winter range. Suzu Travels handles ground arrangements in Rajasthan, Himachal, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Goa and Kerala. A client who wants Rajasthan’s forts in November and Goa’s beaches in December can stay with one supplier. See our Goa DMC guide and our Himachal DMC services for how we work in other states.
- Net rates you control. You receive a net cost per file and set your own selling price.
- White-label delivery. Vouchers and itineraries go out in your name.
- One team accountable for the file. Hotels, vehicle, guides and safaris are coordinated by the same people, so nothing falls between suppliers.
What to send your DMC for a fast, accurate Rajasthan quote
A complete brief gets you a usable quote the same day:
- travel dates, and whether they are flexible;
- number of adults, children (with ages) and rooms;
- nationality, since monument fees differ for Indian and foreign clients;
- arrival and departure points (airport, railway station or Delhi pick-up) and times;
- the cities you have in mind, or the client’s interests (palaces, wildlife, desert, festivals, food);
- hotel category, and whether the client wants heritage properties or modern hotels;
- whether a Ranthambore safari is a must, and the preferred vehicle (gypsy or canter);
- for groups: purpose (leisure, MICE, wedding) and meal plan;
- your target per-person budget, so the quote is built to it rather than guessed.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Rajasthan DMC?
A Rajasthan DMC (destination management company) is a local ground-handling partner that arranges hotels, desert camps, vehicles, guides, safaris and on-trip support in Rajasthan for travel agents and tour operators, at net rates, so the agent can sell the trip under their own brand.
When is the best time to sell Rajasthan?
October to March is the main season. November to February has the best weather. Christmas–New Year is the peak and books out first, and the Pushkar fair in November and the Desert Festival in February fill their towns.
What are the Pushkar fair dates in 2026?
The Pushkar fair runs from 17 to 24 November 2026, ending on Kartik Purnima on 24 November. Hotels and camps in Pushkar charge special fair rates and sell out early.
How far ahead should Ranthambore safaris be booked?
As early as possible, and before the hotel for peak dates. Safaris for Diwali week and Christmas–New Year sell out weeks or months ahead, and last-minute seats cost far more than regular permits.
How many days does a Rajasthan tour need?
Plan at least 7 days for Jaipur plus one more region, and 10 to 14 days for the full Jaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer–Udaipur circuit. Fewer days than that means too much time in the car.
Which airports serve a Rajasthan tour?
Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur have the most useful flight connections. Flying into one and out of another avoids backtracking. Jaisalmer is usually reached by road from Jodhpur or by train.
When should agents book Rajasthan for New Year 2027?
Now, ideally in October. Udaipur lake-view hotels, Jaisalmer camps and Ranthambore safaris for 24 December to 1 January go first, often with minimum-stay rules and compulsory gala dinners.
