Can a Srinagar taxi do Pahalgam sightseeing?
No. Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, Chandanwari and Baisaran are served only by Pahalgam Taxi Union vehicles, and forest checkpoints turn back vehicles without a union permit. The Srinagar vehicle that brings the group to Pahalgam waits at the hotel, so a Kashmir quote needs a separate union-taxi leg for Pahalgam sightseeing.
Is the Srinagar–Leh road open in winter?
Usually not. The Srinagar-Leh highway crosses Zoji La at 11,643 ft, which has historically closed for around 135 days each winter, typically from late November to mid-April. The 2024-25 closure lasted only 33 days, but a Kashmir and Ladakh road combination should still be sold for June to September.
Who operates the Gulmarg Gondola and how high does it go?
The Gulmarg Gondola is run by the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation. Phase 1 rises from Gulmarg at 2,650 m to Kongdoori; Phase 2 continues to about 3,980 m on the shoulder of Apharwat Peak. Phase 2 is weather-dependent, so Gulmarg days need a fallback plan.
