How your Indrahar Pass trek works

  1. Before you go

Arrive in McLeod Ganj (about 2,082 m). Kit check and briefing with the trek team; you register at the trail check post as Kangra district requires.

  2. Day 1 — McLeod Ganj to Triund

About 9 km up from McLeod Ganj or Dharamkot to the Triund ridge (about 2,900 m). Camp for the night.

  3. Day 2 — Triund to Laka Got

About 7 km to Laka Got, the Snowline camp (about 3,500 m). A short day so your body gets used to the height.

  4. Day 3 — the pass

Early start past the Lahesh caves to Indrahar Pass (about 4,342 m) and back to Laka Got — about 12 km, weather permitting, with a fixed turn-back time.

  5. Day 4 — back to McLeod Ganj

About 16 km down to McLeod Ganj; your cab takes you to the hotel or on to your next stop.

  6. Hotel and cab included

We add your McLeod Ganj or Dharamshala hotel nights and the cab from Delhi, Chandigarh, Pathankot or Gaggal airport in the same quote.

Nights in camp

You sleep two nights in tents — at Triund and at Laka Got. The trek team pitches camp and cooks; you carry a day pack, or add a porter or mule for your backpack.

Nights above Triund are cold even in June. Pack warm layers, a rain shell, a head torch and proper trekking boots; poles help on the boulder ground.

Kangra rules & safety

What we check before we book your trek

Suzu Travels is an HP Tourism registered travel agent (Reg. No. DTO-MND-11-243/2022). We arrange the trek only with registered local operators and a guide, and plan around these checks:

  • Registration firstKangra set up check posts at 10 trail entry points in November 2025; trekking these routes without registering is not allowed. We register you with the trek team.
  • District ordersKangra issues trekking orders from time to time — in June 2025 it required GPS tracking and no more than 10 trekkers per guide, and in January 2026 it barred trekking above 3,000 m. We check the order in force for your dates.
  • No winter attemptsFresh snow from late autumn closes the pass, so we do not book November–March attempts beyond Triund.
  • Acclimatise at Laka GotNever Triund → pass → back in one day. Sleep at Laka Got and turn back on headache, vomiting or breathlessness.
  • Turn-back timeSummit day starts early with a fixed turn-back time; the final climb is steep boulder ground.
  • Snow near the topNever cross fresh snow slopes near the pass without the guide; in May–June your guide decides how far to go.

Make it a trip

Dharamshala + McLeod Ganj + Indrahar Pass

A good plan is Delhi or Chandigarh → McLeod Ganj 1 night → the 4-day Indrahar Pass trek → Dharamshala 1 night, with a paragliding flight or a day at Bir Billing as the rest-day extra. Book the Chandigarh to Dharamshala taxi, see the Himachal tour package from Delhi, or read about Himachal’s mountains. Want a shorter trek? Do Triund in a day or two, or the Kareri Lake trek on the same ridge.
