Check in, meet the trek team for a kit check and briefing. Carry a government photo ID for the forest check post.
-
Day 1 — Dhundi to Bakarthach
Cab via Solang to Dhundi (about 2,840 m), then about 4.5 km (3–4 hours) along the Beas to the meadow camp at Bakarthach (about 3,300 m).
-
Day 2 — up to the lake

-
Day 3 — back to Manali
Walk down to Dhundi and your cab drives you back to Manali, or straight on to your next stop.
-
The view on a clear day
Hanuman Tibba, Friendship Peak, Shitidhar and Ladakhi peak ring the lake; Deo Tibba shows on very clear days.
-
Hotel and cab included
We add your Manali hotel nights and the cab to Dhundi and back in the same quote.
Life at the meadow camp
The night is spent in tents in the wide Bakarthach meadow beside the young Beas. The trek team sets up camp and cooks; you carry a day pack, or add a porter or mule for your backpack.
Wear ankle-high trekking shoes with good grip for the boulders above camp, and pack a warm layer and a rain shell even in summer — nights are cold at about 3,300 m.
Best time for the Beas Kund trek
| Months | Trail | Our advice |
|---|---|---|
| Nov – Apr | Several feet of snow; the road to Dhundi may close | Not for regular treks — do a Solang snow day instead |
| Mid-May – June | Snow on the trail, lake partly frozen | Good, with a guide |
| July – Aug | Monsoon: muddy, slippery and harder | Possible, but we watch weather alerts |
| Sept – Oct | Clear skies; the lake may freeze by late October | Best window |
Planning for 2027? The trek opens again once the snow melts in May. Until then, see snow activities in Manali for a winter trip to the same valley.
What we check before we book your trek
Suzu Travels is an HP Tourism registered travel agent (Reg. No. DTO-MND-11-243/2022). We arrange the trek only with registered local operators and a guide, and plan around these checks:
- Registered guide onlyHimachal’s adventure tourism rules require registered guides and operators, and Kullu district asks trekking operators to register their groups.
- Photo ID + forest check postCarry a government photo ID for the forest check post; some operators also ask for a medical certificate for the forest permission.
- Early start on lake dayLeave camp by 6–7 am. Above Bakarthach the footing is on boulders — ankle-high shoes and a walking stick help.
- Avalanche seasonThe Solang–Dhundi area is avalanche-prone in the snow months, so we do not book winter attempts.
- AltitudeThe lake is at about 3,890 m. A night in Manali first helps; tell the guide about headache or nausea.
- Weather alertsIn July–August we follow the weather alerts and any district orders for your dates; the season ends with October snow.

Manali + Beas Kund + Solang
A good first-trek trip is Manali 3 nights + the 3-day Beas Kund trek + a Solang or Atal Tunnel day. Read our Manali guide, see the Himachal tour package from Delhi, or check adventure activities in Manali — a paragliding flight in Solang fits well before the trek. Ready for more next time? The Hampta Pass trek crosses from Kullu to Lahaul. Need only a cab to Manali? Book a Delhi to Manali taxi or a Chandigarh to Manali taxi.
