Manimahesh lake and the yatra: weather and timing
Manimahesh lake lies at about 4,080 m below the Manimahesh Kailash peak. The usual route is a road from Bharmour to Hadsar, then a trek of roughly 13–14 km via Dhancho and Gauri Kund, usually with a night at Dhancho.
The official Manimahesh yatra is held for about two weeks between Janmashtami and Radha Ashtami (August–September). Days are cool and nights near freezing at the lake; rain and sudden weather changes are common, so the administration’s yatra advisories matter.
Outside the yatra, the lake is snowbound for much of the year; late June to early October is the realistic window for a trek. More: Chamba tourist places and Dalhousie weather.
