Bike rent in Manali at a glance
You can rent a scooty or motorbike in Manali with a valid licence for that vehicle class and a photo ID; rentals sit around Mall Road, the bus stand and Old Manali. Scooties suit town, Hadimba and Vashisht; a geared bike is better for Solang (13 km) and Sissu (~40 km via Atal Tunnel). Rohtang is not a two-wheeler trip, and after snowfall only 4x4s go beyond Solang.

Scooty or geared bike?
A scooty is easy for town lanes and short hops to Hadimba, Vashisht and Old Manali. For the climb to Solang and the run to Sissu, a geared bike (Classic 350 or Himalayan) is safer and more comfortable for two.
Your licence must cover the vehicle: a gearless-only licence does not cover a geared motorbike. Read the rental agreement — deposit, outstation permission and damage clause — before you leave the shop.

What we check before we arrange your bike
Suzu Travels is an HP Tourism registered travel agent (Reg. No. DTO-MND-11-243/2022). We arrange bikes with registered local rentals and plan your route around these rules:
- Licence and helmetsLicence must match the vehicle class; helmet for rider and pillion; no riding after drinking — checked in town.
- Rohtang: not by bikeThe official permit fee table lists only car/jeep, MUV and bus/HMV — no two-wheeler category. The road above Gulaba also closes in winter.
- Snow closuresAfter heavy snow the road beyond Solang Nala and Atal Tunnel has reopened for 4x4s only. A prepaid bike does not override a closure.
- MonsoonLandslides on the Manali–Atal Tunnel road; daylight riding only, back in town before dark.
- LadakhLeh and Manali rental unions have clashed over Himachal-registered bikes at Nubra and Pangong. We never promise a Manali bike there — we plan a legal option.
- Agreement in writingDeposit terms, outstation permission and damage clause written down before you ride off.

Manali stay, Sissu ride and the big road trips
The easiest plan is 3 nights in Manali with one bike day to Sissu and a backup cab in case snow closes the road. Riding further? See our Spiti valley long circuit by bike or SUV, the Delhi to Spiti road trip, the Ladakh bike trip and our Leh Ladakh road trip guide. Planning Rohtang? Read the Rohtang permit and road status guide — it is a cab trip. More about the town on our Manali page, or get a Delhi to Manali taxi.
Bike rent in Manali — questions
What documents do I need to rent a bike in Manali?
A valid driving licence for that vehicle class (scooty = without gear, motorbike = with gear) and a photo ID. The rental keeps a deposit or an ID.
Can I take a rented bike to Rohtang Pass?
Plan on no. The official Rohtang permit fee table lists cars/jeeps, MUVs and buses only — no two-wheeler category — and the road above Gulaba is closed in winter. Ride to Sissu through Atal Tunnel instead, or see our Rohtang permit guide.
Can I ride to Sissu and Atal Tunnel on a rented bike?
Yes in normal weather. It is about 40 km and needs no Rohtang permit. After snowfall the police allow only 4×4 vehicles beyond Solang. More in our Atal Tunnel & Sissu guide.
Is a scooty enough for Manali?
For town, Old Manali, Hadimba and Vashisht, yes. For Solang, Sissu or anything with snow or long climbs, take a geared motorbike.
Can I take a Manali rental bike to Leh and Ladakh?
Check first. Leh rental unions have long opposed Himachal-registered rental bikes at Nubra and Pangong. Tell us your route and we’ll plan a legal option.
Can I rent a bike in Manali in winter?
Yes for the valley. Expect ice above Solang in the mornings and 4×4-only days after snow; we add a backup cab to winter quotes.
Where are bike rental shops in Manali?
Mostly on and near Mall Road, by the bus stand and in Old Manali. We can have the bike brought to your hotel.
What does bike rent in Manali depend on?
Bike type, days, route, month and deposit terms. Send your dates on WhatsApp and we share today’s rate within minutes — Price: Get Quote.
