Best time for the Pin Bhaba Pass trek
| Months | What to expect | Our advice |
|---|---|---|
| October – May | Closed by snow; no crossings | Not run |
| Late June | Opening window; snow on the pass and higher camps | For experienced groups |
| July – August | Prime months on the trail (Spiti side is rain-shadow), but rain on the Kinnaur side and landslides on the Shimla–Kafnu road | Main season; keep a buffer day |
| Early – mid September | Clear and cold; last crossings | Good window |

What we check before we book your trek
Suzu Travels is an HP Tourism registered travel agent (Reg. No. DTO-MND-11-243/2022). We arrange the trek with registered local operators and plan around these checks:
- AltitudeA crossing at about 4,900 m: the plan builds in acclimatisation, and anyone with signs of altitude sickness goes down.
- Point of no returnThere is no easy bail-out once you leave Phutsirang, so the go/no-go call is made there with the guide.
- Stream crossingsSeveral crossings run fast and wide in the afternoon and after rain — the crew crosses early in the day.
- RockfallIn August 2019 a landslide above Phutsirang blocked the pass for about two weeks and groups were re-routed. We check the trail status before every departure.
- Road bufferThe Shimla–Kafnu road along the Sutlej sees landslide closures in July–August; keep a spare day.
- Permits and IDRegistration and permits for your group are arranged through the operator — carry government ID. Foreign nationals: send your passport country first and we check the rules before quoting.

Shimla + Pin Bhaba Pass + Spiti
The trek ends in Spiti, so it pairs naturally with the Spiti circuit: Shimla (1 night) → Kafnu (1 night) → Pin Bhaba trek (5–6 nights) → Kaza (2 nights) → out via Chandratal and Manali (in season) or back via Kinnaur — about 10–11 days.
