Delhi to Vrindavan by road, stop by stop
The route our drivers take, with the stops worth making.
- Delhi NCRPickup from home, hotel, IGI Airport T1/T3, New Delhi, Nizamuddin or Anand Vihar station, or anywhere in Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram.
- DND · Noida ExpresswayEast and central Delhi pickups leave over the DND or Kalindi Kunj and run down the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. Starting before 7 am skips most of the office traffic here.
- Greater Noida · Zero PointThe Yamuna Expressway starts near Pari Chowk: a straight, access-controlled six-lane road with clean food plazas and washrooms on both sides.
- JewarThe first toll plaza, beside Noida International Airport — useful if you fly in or out of Jewar, which is much closer to Vrindavan than IGI.
- Mathura–Vrindavan interchangeLeave the expressway here and drive the last stretch of town road into Vrindavan. Early mornings and festival evenings are the slowest part of the whole trip.
- VrindavanDrop at your hotel, ashram or guest house, or at the parking nearest the temple you want. The lanes around Banke Bihari are too narrow for cars — the last few hundred metres are on foot or by e-rickshaw.
- Mathura (optional)Krishna Janmabhoomi and Dwarkadhish are about 12 km away, so one car and one day can cover both towns before you head back.

Road tips for Delhi to Vrindavan
Cars stop short of Banke Bihari
The old lanes around Banke Bihari and the Nidhivan area are too narrow for cars. The driver drops you at the nearest parking point and waits there; you walk or take an e-rickshaw to the gate. Wear slip-on shoes — there are shoe counters near the temples.
Temple hours change with the season
Banke Bihari opens in a morning and an evening session with a long midday break, and the timetable shifts twice a year: the winter schedule runs from Bhai Dooj after Diwali until Holi. Check the day’s timings before you leave Delhi so you arrive for a session, not the break.
Avoid the New Year and festival peaks
Crowds can run into lakhs on New Year’s Day, Janmashtami, Holi and long weekends. Last New Year the Banke Bihari temple asked devotees to put off visits between 29 December and 5 January, and the police brought in traffic diversions and remote parking. On such dates plan extra time or another day.
Prem Mandir after sunset
Prem Mandir’s lighting comes on after dark and is worth staying for. If you want it on a same-day trip, keep the evening free and plan to be back in Delhi around 10–11 pm.
Winter fog on the expressway
Dense fog is common from mid-December to mid-February, and the speed limit for cars on the Yamuna Expressway has been cut in that period in past winters. On foggy mornings we start after first light and add an hour.
Add Mathura, Govardhan or Barsana
Mathura is 12 km away, and Govardhan and Barsana are an easy extra hour or two by road. Tell us your list and we’ll price the whole day as one fare.

Questions travellers ask
How much is a taxi from Delhi to Vrindavan?
One-way fares start around ₹2,199 for a hatchback, ₹2,499 for a sedan, ₹3,299 for an Ertiga, ₹3,799 for a Kia Carens and ₹4,499 for an Innova Crysta. A 12-seater Tempo Traveller starts around ₹8,299. Tolls and parking are extra at actuals; peak dates cost more.
How far is Vrindavan from Delhi by road?
About 160–185 km, depending on where in Delhi NCR you start — east Delhi and Noida are closer, Gurugram and west Delhi are further. On the Yamuna Expressway the drive takes about 3 to 4 hours with one short stop.
Which route does the taxi take to Vrindavan?
Usually Noida and the Yamuna Expressway past Jewar to the Mathura–Vrindavan interchange. From Gurugram, Faridabad or south Delhi the driver may take the NH-19 via Palwal and Kosi Kalan instead; it is a little longer but avoids crossing Delhi.
Can I do a same-day Delhi–Vrindavan–Delhi trip?
Yes. Leave by 6 am, see Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir and ISKCON, and be back the same night. A same-day round trip is billed per kilometre (about 360 km): a sedan starts around ₹4,399 and an Innova Crysta around ₹6,899, tolls and parking extra.
Can the same taxi cover Mathura and Vrindavan in one day?
Yes. Mathura is about 12 km from Vrindavan, so Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish and the Vrindavan temples fit into one long day from Delhi. Ask for one fare covering the whole route.
Is the Vrindavan to Delhi taxi fare the same?
Yes. The same one-way fares apply from any Vrindavan hotel, ashram or temple parking to anywhere in Delhi NCR, including IGI Airport and Noida International Airport at Jewar.
Can you pick us up from Delhi airport for Vrindavan?
Yes, from IGI T1, T2 or T3 — share the flight number and the driver waits at arrivals with your name. Noida International Airport at Jewar is a closer start if your flight lands there.
Can the taxi drop us right at Banke Bihari temple?
Not at the gate. Cars cannot enter the narrow lanes around Banke Bihari, so the driver stops at the nearest parking and you walk or take an e-rickshaw for the last few hundred metres. Prem Mandir and ISKCON are on wider roads and easy to reach by car.
