Tour price = our per-km tour rate × the kilometres driven, with a minimum of 250 km a day, plus ₹400 a night driver allowance (₹500 for the Tempo Traveller). On these hill circuits the daily minimum usually decides the price, because trek and darshan days have little driving. Tolls, parking, state entry fees, your hotels, meals, ponies, palkis and helicopter tickets are not included. Starting in Delhi adds about 440 km and two days.

Good to know about taxis for the Char Dham yatra
Register every pilgrim first
Registration is compulsory and free for every yatri, children included, on registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app (or WhatsApp ‘YATRA’ to +91 83948 33833). You get a QR yatra pass that is scanned at check posts — carry a printout and the same ID you registered with. Offline counters run in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Barkot, Sonprayag and Pandukeshwar.
We handle the vehicle papers
Every passenger vehicle on the yatra needs a Green Card and an online Trip Card listing the passengers and driver, and drivers need a hill endorsement on their licence. Our taxis come with these; we only need each traveller’s name, address and mobile number a few days before.
Start early, stop before dark
Hill roads on the yatra route are closed to passenger vehicles from 8 pm to 5 am, and our drivers plan every day around that. Most days start at 5–6 am so you reach the next stop by mid-afternoon, with time for traffic at Dharasu, Tilwara or the Joshimath stretch.
Season and closing dates
The dhams open on Akshaya Tritiya in late April or May and close for winter after Diwali. In 2026 the doors close on 10 November (Gangotri), 11 November (Yamunotri and Kedarnath) and 16 November (Badrinath). Dates for 2027 are announced in early 2027; book May–June and October cars early. See Char Dham closing dates 2026.
Pick the car for the people, not the price
A sedan suits 2–3 people with light bags. Families and senior citizens usually take an Innova Crysta for the space and ride on long mountain days; groups of 8 or more go in a Tempo Traveller. Keep the car small enough for the narrow Gangotri and Yamunotri roads — we advise on this when you send your group size.
Uttarakhand green cess and tolls
Cars registered outside Uttarakhand pay a small green cess at the border (₹80 for light vehicles since 15 February 2026), plus highway tolls and parking at Janki Chatti, Sonprayag and Badrinath. These are added at actuals, never marked up.
Monsoon caution
Mid-July to August brings landslides on hill highways. We watch road advisories and move your start time or route when needed — no extra charge for a route change we suggest.

Questions travellers ask
What is the Char Dham yatra taxi fare from Haridwar?
For the full 10-day Char Dham circuit from Haridwar the taxi starts around ₹33,599 in a sedan, ₹38,599 in an Ertiga, ₹51,099 in an Innova Crysta and ₹69,499 in a 12-seater Tempo Traveller. That covers the car, fuel, driver and driver allowance for 10 days; tolls, parking and green cess are extra at actuals.
How many days does the Char Dham yatra by taxi take?
Ten days and nine nights from Haridwar is the comfortable plan: one day each to reach Barkot, Uttarkashi and Guptkashi, a day each for Yamunotri and Gangotri, two days for Kedarnath (trek up, night there, trek down), a day to reach Badrinath and two days back. From Delhi add a day at each end, so 12 days.
How many km is the Char Dham yatra by road?
About 1,310 km of driving from Haridwar back to Haridwar: roughly 170 km to Barkot, 90 km for the Janki Chatti return, 85 km to Uttarkashi, 200 km for the Gangotri return, 200 km to Guptkashi, 70 km for Sonprayag, 190 km to Badrinath and 320 km down to Haridwar. From Delhi it is about 1,760 km.
What is the Do Dham (Kedarnath and Badrinath) taxi fare?
A 6-day Do Dham trip from Haridwar to Kedarnath and Badrinath starts around ₹19,999 in a sedan and ₹30,499 in an Innova Crysta. A 5-day Yamunotri and Gangotri trip starts around ₹16,599 in a sedan. Ek Dham trips to Kedarnath or Badrinath alone start around ₹13,199 for 4 days.
Does the taxi go all the way to Kedarnath and Yamunotri?
No car can. For Kedarnath, taxis stop at Sonprayag; a shuttle jeep goes to Gaurikund and the last 16 km or so is on foot, pony, palki or by helicopter. For Yamunotri the road ends at Janki Chatti and the temple is about 6 km uphill. Gangotri and Badrinath have road access almost to the temple. The driver waits for you at each road-head.
Can we start the Char Dham taxi from Delhi, Dehradun or Rishikesh?
Yes. Rishikesh and Dehradun (including Jolly Grant airport) pickups cost the same as Haridwar. From Delhi the 12-day trip starts around ₹40,399 in a sedan and ₹61,399 in an Innova Crysta. If you only need a ride to the start, a Delhi to Haridwar one-way taxi starts around ₹2,899.
Is registration compulsory for the Char Dham yatra?
Yes. Every pilgrim must register (free) on the Uttarakhand registration portal or app before travel and carry the QR yatra pass; check posts scan it. Vehicle papers — the Green Card and the Trip Card with every passenger’s details — are the taxi operator’s job, and our cars have them.
When does the Char Dham yatra close in 2026?
The doors close for winter on 10 November 2026 at Gangotri, 11 November at Yamunotri and Kedarnath, and 16 November at Badrinath. For all four dhams leave Haridwar by about the end of October. The yatra reopens in late April or May 2027 on Akshaya Tritiya; we take 2027 enquiries now.
