Good to know about taxis in Haridwar
Har Ki Pauri is on foot
The lanes around Har Ki Pauri are closed to cars. The driver drops you at the nearest parking and waits; from there it is a short walk or an e-rickshaw. For the evening Ganga aarti (around sunset) be at the ghat an hour early.
Uttarakhand green cess
Cars registered outside Uttarakhand pay a small green cess (₹80 for light vehicles since 15 February 2026), read by cameras at the border; CNG and electric cars are exempt. It is added to your quote at actuals. Our Haridwar pickups are local trips, so it only applies on the way in from Delhi.
Kanwar Yatra and festival days
During the Sawan Kanwar Yatra (late July to early August) the Delhi–Haridwar highway closes to cars for several days and the town fills with kanwariyas. Ganga Dussehra, Somvati Amavasya and other bathing days bring police diversions too — we plan pickup points around them.
Ardh Kumbh 2027
Haridwar’s Ardh Kumbh runs through March–April 2027, with main bathing days on 6 and 8 March and 14 April. Book cars early and expect drop points well away from the ghats.
Char Dham from Haridwar
Biometric yatra registration is compulsory for every pilgrim, and in 2026 Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath are expected to close around 10–11 November, Badrinath later in November. Leave Haridwar by 5–6 am for Sonprayag or Badrinath; our drivers do not run mountain roads after dark. See our Char Dham yatra.
Monsoon caution
Mid-July to August brings landslides on hill highways. We watch road advisories and move your start time or route when needed — no extra charge for a route change we suggest.
